Just got a copyright infringement notice from my ISP

Saying I have to accept terms and conditions and what-not to restore my service. Also the company that sent them the notice is saying to pay a $200 settlement or they'll take me to court.
Anyone have any experience with this?
I know I'm an idiot. I downloaded a movie via bit torrent. I never do and did it this past week because I was bored.

Pay the settlement.
Or you'll be needing one of these.

I got an email lik the that but didn't have a settlement attached with it. I've never heard of paying a settlement like that. You sure it's not a scam?

It was in Suddenlink's message to me when I had to reactivate my service.
ETA: had the name of the movie and everything.

That really sounds sketchy. I'd look into it further before paying anything. I occasionally get emails that sound really similar to that, but they're just scams

Damn that sucks. That's why I do the streaming movies now and download that way. They can't track that I believe.

I've downloaded tons of movies and games and never gotten one of these.

It was a Scooby Doo porn parody.
I was just fricking around.

Honestly, you could not pay the $200 and probably be fine. Very few of these cases actually go to court. That being said it's probably easier to just pay the settlement and make it all go away.

I got a "warning" type email as well but never had a settlement. I would do plenty of homework to make sure it's not some scam

I'd rather pay it than have the Scooby Doo XXX parody ruin my life.

Don't pay. It'll only encourage them and help finance their witch hunts after the rest of us.
Take a stand man.

Hope thats what you got, I have received the notice from suddenlink and had to e-sign some shite the first time I got back on the internet after they reconnected service but never received any type of settlement notice.

I refreshed the settlement page and there's another one now for a Big Bang Theory XXX parody, which I downloaded.
I'm freaking out.
