I feel terrible for the people dumb enough to throw money away to churches/pastors like that.

Sorantable throws money at Twinkies. Worse investment, imo.

I'd be willing to be John Oliver does more to help people with the money he raises than most, if not all, of the churches he mentioned. For the record, these "Pastors" have been the bane of many Christians for years. We realize what horrible damage they do, and how they drag down the name of Christ, but all you can do is try to steer people away from that.
Here's a song by Christian artist Steve Taylor from back in 1993 that's apropos: Cash Cow

He should have gone after Joel Osteen. He's the worst one of disguising himself as a pastor.

Creflo is in the minor leagues compared to Osteen.

I have my own issues with him, but he's not the worst by any reasonable standard. He does not take a salary from his pastoral role, and he does not actively solicit money from the pulpit. His wealth is almost exclusively from his books and other speaking appearances.
I don't believe he represents what a pastor should be, but he's not nearly the worst.

I will disagree based on the number of people he is leading astray compared to others.

He is a motivational speaker. And he's making a lot of money doing it. But there's a stark difference between what he does and the others who are asking for money and promising wealth and healing in return. Osteen doesn't do that.
Tilton and Dollar and those guys deserve a place in hell. I just can't say the same about Osteen.

Disguising himself as a minister. He's a snake in the weeds. It's harder for people without a solid foundation in theology to see the snake compared to a Tilton or Dollar. Osteen does more damage to Christianity than the others.

If you read the fine print when making a donation to Our Lady of the Perpetual Exemption. It states that they will probably "shut it down in the near future, at which point all assets will be donated to Doctors Without Borders"
So yeah. He's showing how crooked these snakes are while legitimately donating it to help people in actual need.

Osteen preaches one side of the gospel. Just like everyone else.

One of my favorites.
"Guilty By Association," "On the Fritz" and "Easy Listening" are others where he took a swipe at pay-to-play Christianity.

You don't really know how any of this works, do you?

I was laughing so hard when he busted out the letters he had.

What's sad is that there are plenty of other pastors out there NOT on TV who also take advantage of their members. My mom went to a non denominational church when I was a kid. I remember it was the pastor and his wife that led sermons. Both drove Mercedes and lived in a huge house in a very nice area.
Say what you want about pastors enjoying the blessings God has given them. But I find it odd and untrustworthy.

Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” Matthew 19:21

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” Marl 10:25
quote:
"But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction." 1 Timothy 6:9

I still call myself a Christian but all organized religion seems odd and untrustworthy sometimes.
