Plenty of scenic wonders to see. If you have time check out southwest Missouri too. Pretty much the same beautiful countryside - Ozark Mountains.
Have fun. Get out on the backroads and see the state a little.
I'll post more details sometime soon.

If you like fishing, this is actually a good time to trout fish on the White River. Find a guide. I used a guy named "Crazy Mike" a while back, and he did a bang up job. It's a good smallmouth fishery, too, but it probably wouldn't be good right now.

Crazy Mike's Fishing Service
I forgot-he also does "cast and blast" which is 1/2 day fishing and 1/2 day upland bird hunting. He handles all of the cleaning. Great guy.

Take a trip to Eureka Springs Ar, it's a very cool town. Bass Pro is Springfield MO is worth the trip. It is the HQ and has live trout streams complete w ducks, waterfalls, etc in the store.
Too bad you aren't there in the summer, The Buffalo is a great float, Ponca to Pruitt.

Working on doing that one this summer hopefully.

How close will you be to Branson?

Also-Gaston's Resort near by has a nice restaurant that looks out over the White River. I remember Back Forty being a decent burger joint in Mountain Home. Some of the Razorbacks around here who are there more frequently may be able to give you better eating choices.

Mountain Home used to be the only Wet town in that area for about 80 miles in any direction or until you hit the Missouri line.
So it was sort of a shithole, yet pretty wild place.
Tons of yankees from the Rust Belt retire in that area, it's awesome for outdoors stuff though. If you are into trout fishing everything you need to know is in this LINK
You're not going to find nightlife, but there's a few bars and a couple night clubs, you'll find slutty chicks if you go anywhere and introduce yourself.

You can probably catch a few brother/sister weddings while you are there. Probably be a good place to pick up a prospective wife. Once you buy her that first pair of shoes she will be yours for life.

I don't know much about anything east of Harrison. Eureka Springs seems like a long drive from Mt. Home on the map, especially on those mountain roads. You might as well drive to Branson.
Its pretty rural, and retiree-y over there.

What day are you going up there?

Eureka is a solid hour and a half drive, maybe a tad more from Mtn. Home.
Branson would be same drive time.

Mt Home in the summer semi-sucks. In the winter it is almost a total suck. It has nice lakes and rivers, good fishing and other outdoor stuff that make for great summertime fun.
Fred's fish House has very good catfish, The Back Forty has good burgers and Gaston's has the good food and view of the white river.
It is called little Chicago for a reason. A majority of the population is Yankees from that area. They all talk like those dudes on that State Farm commercials with that packers QB. Night life is pretty sad.
You better have your snow tires. The forecast for that area is 3-5 inches snow and a few more snow/ice events this week.
