Do you guys have a nickname for hwy 82? I figured since it's the road that connects Auburn and Tuscaloosa you would. Anyway, I traveled on that going to the Bama-A&M game this year and man, there was a whole bunch of nothing. It was quite hilly though, so I guess that was kind of cool. I guess you all like the vast spaces, though.

Well, I refuse to live anywhere in alabama under any condition. I suppose I could build a new home on US61 just north of the LA-MS state line, south of Woodville, MS. My address would be in MS but I'd do all my errands, etc in St. Francisville, LA or Baton Rouge.

I'd love another shot at playing Diamondhead again. When I played it, I wasn't very good. I think I played it back in 2013. I have vastly improved since.

In Alabama, I'd want to live in Fairhope, Huntsville, or Birmingham...probably in that order.

In Mississippi, it would be Oxford, Ocean Springs, then Southaven.

No. It really only connects Tuscaloosa and Prattville. You take I-85 from Auburn to Montgomery.

The Gordo-Reform Revenue Generator.

shite. Drive through Blount and Cullman counties, or Jackson and Etowah. Talk about hills and hollers full of nothing but tremendous beauty.

Well yes... I know that, but you still have to use HWY 82, which is the vast majority of that drive.

If I am going from Auburn to Tuscaloosa, I am going 280>459>20

82 is awful.

You don't have to. It's just as fast to just take I-65 to Birmingham, then I-20/59 to Tuscaloosa.

I came from Pensacola for that one, so I was trying to use the interstate as much as possible, but Google Maps was telling me hell no to the interstate passed Montgomery due to the traffic on I-20, so we opted to do HWY 82... which was awful for a good hour until it finally opened up to 4 lanes, then it wasn't bad at all and it was smooth coming into Tuscaloosa.

Driving to Starkville is such a bitch. It feels like they've been expanding the lanes for more than half of my life. Nothing worse than getting stuck behind a big-rig when it's two-lane. There's only two spots that make a passing lane, and they might only be 300 yards a piece.

I'm not sure I'd want to live anywhere between Mobile and Montgomery (maybe Lee County if I felt like being a masochist). The state changes dramatically once you get south of the hills/mountains....the northern half of the state is so much further ahead that it's not even funny.

I love new-Tuscaloosa and some of the older, smaller Western (albeit poorer) towns of my families past, as well as the coast.

I don't even plan to leave Atlanta, but if I did, that's where I'd want to hang my shingle. I'd rather move to Western Pennsylvania than move to Orlando or Lakeland.

After a football game, it is faster to take 82 because of the traffic.

Alabama. Vestavia is a quiet piece of heaven I'll happily live there.

I've always felt like the worst places in MS are better than the worst places in AL but the nicest places in AL are better than the nicest places in MS.

The worst places in both are pretty poor, pretty backwards and pretty sad. And incredibly similar.

However, Alabama has a lot of Appalachian cultured folks in the northeastern part of the state. Mississippi doesn't have much of that at all.
