A third-grade teacher in Denver, Colorado has sparked a sensation on Twitter, after asking her students to open up about their personal struggles.

She asked all for he children to write down one thing they wanted to tell her, but wouldn't normally in the classroom situation and the results were heartbreaking.

Heartbreaking describes it exactly. Damn.

As a new dad myself, the one about the boy who sits at recess alone broke my heart.

Makes me want to pack my things up and go fish and throw football with em. Tough age

I know it's anonymous and no name is attached to any of the posts, but I still think this is a gross invasion of student privacy.

So kids should just keep their problems to themselves and never speak up for themselves?

I'm going to assume you're talking about her posting student work on the internet and not the actual sharing itself (which they were able to do anonymously).

The one about the reading log and Mom not being around a lot gets me pretty bad. Sometimes you just don't know what they're going through at home and it's easy to forget that.

This is retarded. No privacy is breached if names aren't attached.

Those are heartbreaking. My wife is a teacher. The disintegration of the traditional family is the biggest issue in the downfall of our society.

I remember teaching a class with a kid that slept through every damn day without fail. By January, it was a mathematical impossibility for him to pass the class. The reason? He was a high school sophomore, we had no idea what his mom did for a living, and he worked the night shift at the local papa johns every night to make ends meet. Legitimately nice kid and he'd apologize to me for sleeping but he just couldn't help it; he was exhausted and it was either fail high school due to sleeping or not have the bills paid at home.

Ok, my wife has taught every elementary grade but 2nd, and I have helped her grade a LOT of kids writing homework.

Neither she nor I believe that most of the writing on that article was done by 3rd graders.

Low income schools (which she has taught at) have kids who are really behind. REEALLY behind. The handwriting and word use for a lot of that writing would have been impressive for the 5th grade private school class she had.

So, the article is sad, and I don't disbelieve that these kids are getting little to no help from their low IQ parents at home. But these 3rd graders did not write this. The teacher did and passed it off as theirs.

This story is about fake letters.

Not sure why you are so offended by that statement.

This sort of makes me feel like a dick when I bitch at my wife about buying school supplies for her less fortunate students.

It's not that I don't want them to have it, I just don't think it's our job to pay for them.

Plus those mofos show up without supplies, but everyone of them have an iPhone and a pair of Jordan's.

Yeah, frick them, I don't fell like a dick at all.
