I'm thinking about getting a CB radio for my truck. I'd appreciate pros and cons for cb's, thanks.
Edit: Also what uses does a pa have? I think they are cool and you can tell people to get out of your way but what else can you use then for?

units with weather frequencies (noaa weather bands) are helpful in certain situations

I own 3 semis and ,I am currently having to drive one of them. I don't have a CB in my truck, but the other 2 drivers use them.
Really, I can't stand to hear one.Sometimes they are good for getting early warnings about a traffic situation ahead of you, so you might be able to choose a route to get around it, but that means you would need to leave the damn thing on all the time. HELL NAW!
Anymore,if you have a GPS with traffic uptdates, broadband internet, and a good dash radio with weather band+ a cell phone, what would you need a CB for?
From what I hear others say though,Galaxy is a really good brand.

Older Galaxy 55 modded out, dead keys 2w swings 55w with a 2 pill driving 6 pill 3200w foot warmer, she'll get on out there.

You'll need over 12 ft of coax if you don't wanna black tip your whip.

That seems nice, if I get one I'll make sure to get one with that. Thanks for the feed back everyone.

You can get a Galaxy off Ebay for about 30 more bucks.
Nothing wrong with the Bearcat though I guess.
I just like that SWR meter. The older style (non digital) are also easily modified.

Uniden and Cobra are owned by the same manufacturer I believe. Had both, and both are great radios.
What are you putting this in?

My Silverado lol. Mainly getting it for traffic warnings and the weather perk to it. Waiting to hear traffic and weather alerts on the radio is a pain.

The worst part about having a CB is the antenna. Fiberglass is the best, even though their intrusive.
Every foot higher you can place the antenna mount makes a world of difference. I'm a car guy. and don't like shite hanging off or on a vehicle. That's a delimma to me.
