I'm talking complete comms blackout? No phone, Internet, TV, radio, etc. I do this maybe twice a year for about 7-10 days (hunting and fishing trips).

I find myself craving the contact after about a week. Wondering what's going on in the world. And of course what's happening on the OTB.

I'd be perfectly fine without it.

Do you make these trips solitary?

Not usually. But I have done solo river trips. I found that I should limit the solo trips to about 4 or 5 days. After that, you start talking to inanimate objects.

It's a good amount of work to live outside by yourself while hunting or any type of overnight outside operation really. I've fished and camped alone and I didn't move to cover 1/8th as much ground as when my brother goes..

Depends on what "Off Grid" means. I could go indefinitely without tv, internet, phone etc. I couldn't go long without social interaction. Maybe a week or so before I really started having trouble

I find it a little easier solo. Less gear, food, etc. But I see what you're saying about covering ground. I tend to take less chances than if I were with a buddy. You fall and break a leg.......you're fricked.

I do it twice a year fishing with a couple of close family members. No TV, no internet, very little phone. Its awesome. I do it specifically so I can get some down time. I crave it. June 7th week is my next black out week.

If given the opportunity, I could go a month easy.
