How does everyone on Instagram have like 3.2M followers?

I don't have a Facebook and I only follow 5 people on Instagram (my girlfriend, my best friend, Adam savage from mythbusters and a couple photo house companies).
How the hell does every normal Joe or Jane looking person have hundreds of thousands of followers on Instigram? I believe something's amiss here. I know when I'm being hoodwinked.

Well for some hot women that is there job. They look hot and advertise stuff on instagram.
If you are a hot girl it's not very hard to get thousands of followers.
I am guessing the only people with millions would be actual celebrities? I don't know.

Some people buy followers. A couple of times, Instagram added like two or three hundred people to my "people you follow" list. It's probably not technically Instagram, but whatever. My daughter has acquaintances who buy likes on photos, too. It's a sad, sad world.

The SECr is my only form of social media (if it's even considered such), I don't think I could deal with all the 'look at me' bullshite on sites like Instagram. I just don't get it I guess.

I mean don't get me wrong, i'm sure she has a ton of people who really follow her, but she puts crap like, buy these lotions, good workout using this powder etc. every day. she probably posts about 10 images a day. 3 of them are her posing, 5 are her products and 2 or 3 are "real life"
