Got one as a kid, don't remember it at all. Crown came off 2 days ago eating a milk dud. Apparently dentist from the first root canal did a shite job, so it's time for round 2 like 15 years later.

Gonna suck pretty bad?

To me it's all about the numbing shots. If they don't get that right anything can hurt. I've had small little cavities filled that I felt like they were drilling into the nerves. So now when I go to the dentist I always let them know that I can usually feel pain with only one shot so I ask for two and I usually don't feel anything with 2.

Pretty terrible. If the root canals don't stop sucking, Venice could collapse

Uuuuuugh. Just cleanings are terrible. I can't imagine having to have any other procedure done.

Mine wasn't that bad, I guess a 2 or 3. Some discomfort for a few hours after, but nothing worse than a filling.

The worst dental procedure I had was when I let a dentist pull a wisdom tooth. He offered to send me to an orthodontist to be put under, but it was cracked and the pain was unbearable. Took him about 30 minutes of pulling and wiggling to get it out and he had to crack it in two and take it out in pieces. I couldn't eat solid food for 2 days. Moral of the story is never let a dentist pull a wisdom tooth.

I went under with laughing gas and anesthesia for my wisdom teeth and they took all 4. Made it pretty easy. The only thing that sucked was I ended up with dry socket in one of them so I had to go back and get it stuffed with antibiotic gauze.

Yeah I had laughing gas and a ton of novicaine. The actual procedure wasn't that bad except for the sound of them cracking my tooth. The next few days were terrible though even with percosets.

Would say 2-3 as well but I'm a veteran of dental procedures unfortunately.

I had a similar experience this year. Chipped the top half of a bottom front tooth 35 years ago. Was fixed then. The tooth below decayed over time, making the top part unstable. The whole thing needed to go so an implant could be put in. The dentist tried to get the original tooth out but because the original break was so low, there wasn't anything to use for leverage. Picture a crow bar type instrument shoved under your gum line of your bottom front tooth and the dentist leaning on it as hard as he can to try and pop the tooth out. After several unsuccessful attempts at that, he gave up, stitched me up and sent me to an oral surgeon to get the original tooth removed. But I had to wait 4 weeks because of all the damage the dentist did. Simply awful.

I have all 4 of my wisdom teeth, and they mentioned wanting to take them out all at once. I've never had it done because it's never made my teeth crooked and never had any pain either.

Spleen that story sounds miserable. Jeez...

Man, these frickin stories aren't helping I hope mu procedure goes smoothly...

Since I've had a root canal on the same tooth before, do I not have any nerve endings in that particular section of my gums? Don't they remove nerve endings and replace with filling?
