House Cleaning: On a regular schedule or wait until it stinks?

My wife insists on cleaning the house on a regular schedule.
For example she thinks the bathroom should be thoroughly cleaned once a week, and the bed sheets should be changed every 2 weeks.
I think this is a wasteful extravagance of soap and water.
I think cleaning doesn't need to be done until the bathroom or the sheets start to stink.
So I want to take a poll and I'm also curious to see if there is a difference of opinion among gender.

We have a couple of ladies come in and do a thorough cleaning every month. It works well

My wife is a clean freak so the house stays clean even with a 1 1/2 year old, a rottweiler, and a little ankle biter that thinks he is a rottweiler.
Sometimes it annoys the hell out of me until I think of what the alternative could be.

Once a week. Mine is done every Saturday morning before football games begin. If I'm going to the game, it's done on Friday.
Sheets are changed weekly as well. Comforter is every 2 weeks.

I just washed my comforter and a couple of other blankets. After the dry cleaning bill, that will def not be more than a once a qtr thing

My wife cleans some everyday now that she is retired. She cleans different things on different days, so she hits the whole house about twice weekly.
My only request is that she clean Mon/Friday so that she doesn't have to clean on Saturday and we can do something fun, since I'm still working.

Between the maid and the lawn service, I can never go back to doing those things myself ever again, I am too spoiled now

Regular schedule. Usually once a week, deep clean once a month. I've gotten a little off schedule in the last month because of work and school stuff, so it's driving me a little crazy.
It's much easier to keep up when you have a regular routine. A lot less to clean.

No, I don't like the turnover of people in companies. I found them through referrals. A mother and daughter team.
