To be fair, Palin is a caricature of conservatism and is so easy to mock that I really cant blame those who do. Yeah its mean, and some take it way too far, but goddammit just listen to the shite she says.

I disagree (and I am no fan of the democrats) but even if it were the case, few flaunt it like she does. She's almost proud of her ignorance, it's bizarre. And its not lying about global warming data or making up quotes that were never said, it's not knowing basic geography and not knowing what "GDP" means.

Because the democrats have (pretty successfully I might add) labeled her as the flagship of modern conservatism. Every time she says something stupid, they get to point and say "see how stupid those frickers are?" and they get points for it. Many Americans see people like her and Hannity and O'Reilly and associate that with the measure of the republican party.
It's really a pretty brilliant strategy. Find a real idiot with a voice and make Americans believe that your political enemy is made up of people like them. The democrats have successfully claimed the intellectual highground in the minds of Americans.

It works both ways. R's label all Dems as wackjobs by pointing to people like Pelosi and Sheila Jackson Lee along with their media idiots like Melissa Harris Perry.
Both sides have idiots that make the party/ideology look bad and the other side exploits it.
I really wish they'd stop with the shite slinging and just ignore the idiots and focus on the good aspects of both sides and use that to come up with reasonable legislation in Congress.
