Dude, you are classy as hell. No barroom brawls for the likes of you.

I was in prior to the internet/24 hour news cycle. The thought was "boys will be boys and we don't have choir boys". As long as "you didn't start it but you finished it without killing anyone" the cops went through the motions, the judge winked at you as he dismissed it and your command asked you not to make this a habit. Both times it was local boys getting pissed off that their local girls where taking a liking of men in uniforms. Unfortunately, now days if this happens it gets plastered on the news and the careers of the Marines are over.

yeah. 5 times. I been busted and disgusted, and jailed for raising hell.

I quit doing all that. Ain't no future in it.

And some people get all out of sorts if you don't follow internet rules. Sheltered wusses.

edit: Most time I spent in jail was one night for misdemeanor possession when I was 18, and one night for raising hell, inebriated.

Growing up in Orlando 15-20 years ago, you had to be careful not to kick someone's arse too bad, and I'm not even talking about sending someone to a doctor. A couple black eyes, and pussy arse parents were calling the cops. It's why I'm glad that I'm a happy drunk. It's when I'm sober that my temper has gotten me into trouble.

It is crazy to think how times have really changed over the past 20 years. Not saying it is necessarily a good thing but an occasional fight was rather common 20-30 years ago. I will say that in my first real fight as a HS freshman (a tad over 30 years ago) that I got my arse whooped good. But it taught me a couple valuable lessons. Don't talk shite unless you can back it up and I had to toughen up quick. I don't think that is the case now a days. I can say my 4 boys have never been in a real brawl that I know of.

Ya, something I really didn't think about. Would have gotten into more trouble if I wasn't as well.

Been arrested many times,by the entire alphabet of law enforcement. Been arrested by U.S. Marshals, when I was naked,in bed asleep with my girlfriend, flown across the Country at the taxpayers expense,to have the stupid arse charges thrown out, that's what mostly always happened. It's very easy for a vengeful person to make false charges, law enforcement is quick to make an arrest, even though they don't know the entire story yet.
The only thing I have ever spent any time in jail for,was a string of traffic tickets, when I had a suspended license. The fines piled up so much, that I had no way to pay them back then.
I finally told the judge in my home town, you're going to have to put me in jail to serve this out, because it's like a snowball that is out of control. If I serve it out,and come out with a clean slate, I can get my license back. This whole deal is about owing money to the court, and not really about dangerous driving or DUI.
The Judge made it so everything ran together, and I only had to stay in jail for 30 days,it could have been much more.He was the same judge that kept giving me all the fines, but when I actually talked to him,he helped me out.
Been charged with assaults, criminal menacing, all kinds of crazy shite, always was vindicated one way or another. Only thing I spent any time for, started over an unpaid traffic ticket.

Edit to say: I mostly was compliant when actually getting arrested, when I was younger, I would scuffle with them and lose, and it was not really a big deal back then. Me and the cop would be friendly to each other next time we saw each other. Those guys were from my same neighborhood and stuff. It's a different world now though. I wouldn't think of having a scuffle, because I don't know where these cops might be from,or how they think.

One for a DUI which got dismissed and another time for assault related to a bar fight. Both were overnight stays.

Once for public intox/underage possession in college. Did 8 hours in the drunk tank with more people I knew coming in all night. Must have been some sort of dragnet drunk night on College St.

Once... I was pulled over after class on the day a friend had died. I was speeding heading to a meeting at work. Turned out a ticket I had gotten a couple of years earlier in college hadn't been handled. I was arrested on a bench warrant I never knew existed since they were sending the mail to my old apartment address.
Cop would not let me pay the ticket the next day after I had explained I went to a wake that morning, then to a final, and was on my way to work. Arrested me anyway as I was in a full suit and then proceeded to make a scene with me.

Handcuffs once, but didn't get arrested.

I thought I was going to play the libertarian card on a cop suspecting me of DUI. So he decided he was going to arrest me. He read me my rights and handcuffed me, then I begged him to let me take the test I had previously refused.

Passed with flying colors and was sent on my way.

I about got nabbed in Charleston (Ladson) for riding a guy's Raptor through a cleared area that was being subdivided. That was a bad machine.

shite who hasn't been arrested? It really doesn't mean shite.. Technically you could get arrested for driving over the speed limit.. Getting convicted is the bitch!!

Sucks having to stay in a holding cell for a few hours but other than that it's not bad... Now getting arrested in Tijuana!! I wouldn't wish that shite on my ex-wife!!

Once, trooper pulled me over for crossing center line and did a field sobriety test on me. Said my eye was twitching when I did the follow the pen test. Wtf?

He asked to search vehicle so I said sure because I was sober. He found a bic ink pen under my seat with the guts out and accused me of DUI with the pen being paraphernalia!

Cuffed and stuffed me. I spent about 3 hours handcuffed to a bench at police station after a strip search. Made bail about an hour later. All charges dropped after tests on urine and pen came back negative.

Some cops are cool and some are dickbags like that trooper.

Have you ever been arrested?

If so, what is the cumulative time you've spent in custody, in hours, days, months or years?

I was arrested for disorderly conduct and unlawfully carrying a pistol. A cop pointed a pistol at me. I was in college but I was so dumb I didn't even know it was a felony. My dad came and bailed me out right away, so I didn't go back in the back to the actual jail. I had a court date later and got a year's probation. That charge was expunged. I had to write a long thing for the Marine Corps but they still let me go to OCS.

In 1989 I got stopped for DUI in Roane County. That was Thanksgiving weekend. A buddy came down from Knoxville and get me. I paid a bail bondsman $150.00/one tenth of the bail. I was in a cell for about 4 hours.

My court date was February 5, 1990. I was pretty terrified. In Tennessee it is a mandatory one year license revocation on the first offense and one year in jail - mandatory. However, they will suspend that all but 2 days so you have to spend a weekend in jail. You still lose your license.

I lived in Nashville, about 3 hours from Roane County. I got a local attorney that I paid $650.00. I showed up for the court date and I still didn't know my BAC or anything. I got there early and watched the judge hammer pititful red neck after pitiful red neck, 90 days in jail, 120 days in jail. None of them had lawyers.

I called my lawyer's office from the court house, "Where is Mr. Smith?" E-mail and cell phones were still in the future.

"Oh, he is already there," his secretary told me.

"What does he look like?"

"He has a long pig tail," she said.

"I see him," I said.

My lawyer was a dead ringer for Willie Nelson.

In the event I got a reckless driving, which my lawyer had worked out before hand. My BAC was only .006 or 60% of the then legal limit.

What I would say is that when you have a court date coming up, everything stops until you get it resolved. It sucks.

ETA: The judge made sure to tell me that even though my BAC was below the legal limit he could have still sent me to jail for a year.
