i saw my first one in April at a Buc-ees convenience store and said "sure, i drive 30k miles a year, a drink that will stay/cold or hot is worth it." i will admit it is the perfect summer adult drink cup. i have booze that will stay iced for 6+ hours.

since then, this crap has exploded and i see them everywhere.

i have a friend that saw mine asked about engraving them. then she started doing it and has literally made $1k the last 2 months sandblasting them for people.

has this become a thing in the rest of the south or are Texans the only ones blowing their money on this?

just to add: a yeti cooler is one of the most ridculous things i can think to spend money on, no matter how much people swear by them.

Yes.

Wife and kids gave me one for Father's Day. I made fun of them for spending so much on a travel coffee mug, but it does keep my coffee hot or cold longer than any other ones I have.

I've never used it for adult beverages.

ETA: Anything Yeti has invaded my neck of the woods. I think a Yeti cooler is required for all incoming freshman at Alabama, especially if you plan on rushing a frat. The more stickers on it, the better.

yeah. i mean i can see wasting 20-50 bucks on something frivolous that remains as a nice cup.

$300-700+? sheeeeeeet. i will never spend that much on the extra ice i need to keep my coleman cold in my life.

My wife and I both have one. Had them for close to a year now. THEY ARE AWESOME.

I've given several as gifts. They initially gave me a little ridicule but now love them.

I have a friend that brings his Yeti to the pool every time he comes and always needs my help carrying it from the car. I told him at the beginning of this summer I wasn't helping him anymore and to get a regular cooler.

My friend owns a paint shop and he painted one for his wife and now has one guy just custom painting them for people $$!!

I don't have a Yeti cooler but I do have a Brute Box cooler and while not as expensive as the Yeti it wasn't cheap but it's damn nice to have ice cold water when I am in the middle of nowhere on a jobsite so to me it was worth the expense.

I can understand the cooler, in situations like transporting an Elk from Colorado back home. The cups, I don't get. Under what circumstances will it ever take me more than 1/2 hour to drink 30 oz of beverage?

Yeah, Yetis and the ilk will keep ice longer than your standard Coleman etc. BUT, only if you're not opening the lid every 10 - 15 minutes getting something out.

Unless you are needing to keep something cold a day or two longer and will limit opening the lid, big waste of money I think.

But, it's a 'status' thing to some folks...

I honestly don't buy Yeti because their shite is so outlandishly expensive. This thing like $40?

Would be nice on a multi day float. I take two now, one for food that only gets opened once or twice a day and the other for beer.

That's not bad considered most drinking containers at Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc are like $15 minimum for what doesn't seem to be more than a hunk of plastic.

Most of the tackle stores that I work with sell them. The ones around my house here cant keep them in stock. One store sold over 100 in a day a few weeks back.

They make a good margin on them as well. The colored ones are the sellers.
