Has the word "crafted" jumped the shark?

Watching TV tonight, I heard crafted in regard to beer, subway, and coffee.

Everything's crafted. Beer, chicken, sandwiches, soup, burgers, boobs coffee, everything.

It's a word that means "premium" at this point which means nothing at all.

Yes. But it's still a good marketing tool among food/beer snobs. It's losing its appeal though

Artisan, organic, and all-natural are all good ones as well.

As much as I hate them, al lnatural and organic can be tied to a true statement, albeit false, often.

I am legally prohibited from calling my produce organic, even though it essentially is.

Yes, that and artisan.

Both terms have become part of the media assault directed at Millenials.

It's how history will remember this generation.

"Millenials, crafted by organic artisans who were locally sourced and just as full of shite as everyone else."

My ex's family had a big blueberry/raspberry operation in the Willamette Valley and they were telling me about the ridiculousness of getting their stuff certified organic and how it wasn't worth it even though, like you, their stuff was legit.

Hell, the were telling me how blueberries with water spots wouldn't sell as fresh so they were packaged and sold as frozen. Weird market these days.

Well that's certainly unprecedented.

In the 90's it was 'homemade'

Homemade ice cream
homemade bread
homemade whatever

None of which was made in a home.

I ignore the 'small batch' 'homemade' and 'hand crafted' labels and just go for what tastes good to me. No one is 'hand crafting' a beer, unless you count joe-shite-the-ragman making bathtub whiskey or beer in his garage, and that shite isn't something I want to drink.

It's less overused than artisanal.

Honestly, how many people actually care if their weed is organically grown?

Now it's hip to buy provisions, not food.

You'd actually be surprised by that, too. Some of the rogue grow operations the Mexicans have set up out West in national parks are fricking environmental disasters. Diesel, industrial pesticides and fertilizer, all kinds of bad runoff shite.

That said, SWIM also understands that cannabis is a very fickle plant and trying to use totally organic means of pesticide and fertilizer can be incredibly difficult if not done in actual plot (ie in a greenhouse).

The original developer. How they come up with them, I have no idea. I've come across Alaskan Thunderfrick before. GOAT name.

I saw a Popeye's box today proclaiming, "Handcrafted Chicken Tenders."
