A witness said that Gasser shot McKnight more than once and at one point stood over him and said “I told you don’t f--k with me” before shooting him again. McKnight was not armed, police say, and Gasser remained at the scene after the shooting and gave his gun over to police.

Damn... how the hell do you not get charged after that?

You cant hold someone past 24 hours and they are still investigating. OP makes it sound like no charges will ever be filed.

Terrible tragedy and there should have been some other solution rather than what happened.
As for making judgements now, we should wait for the investigation to progress. If the witness account is true, the shooter should be prosecuted and punished.
Eyewitness accounts have been notoriously false in previous stories such as this. Let's wait for all the facts.

He'll be charged with murder next week.

Unfortunately , there will be riots and violence throughout Terrytown over the weekend.

Is the guy who shot him black? If so, then no one will care for some odd reason

Not sure where the get that from. I just stated he was released without being charged. Which is what happened.

The guy who shot and killed Will Smith was never released from jail.

Even if the witness account isn't true, McKnight was unarmed and was still shot and killed. There shouldn't need to be any more facts.

From the linked article:

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said McKnight did not have a gun, and deputies did not find a gun outside McKnight's vehicle.

You'd still have to prove that the guy you have in custody is the guy who shot him

I hope he becomes the biggest bitch in prison.

And when he's crying on the cold shower floor with water running all over him, following a rough arse pounding, that some big arse inmate says "I told you don't frick with me".

Ronald Gasser, 54, shot McKnight but the report indicated that there are "questions about the circumstances surrounding what led up to it."

Just because charges haven't been filed yet doesn't mean they won't be - an the report indicated it could be sent to a grand jury or the district attorney's office to determine which charge or charges should be filed - if any.

I say IF. But IF McKnight came at me in a threatening way, I would have shot him too. He is a big, strong guy. I would have been scared out of my mind.
Again I don't know, we don't know, just want to wait for the facts. His death is a senseless tragedy either way. I am truly sorry and want true justice either way, not another public uprising over something that may or may not be true.
