Guy Starts A Petition To Remove Lee, Jackson, and Jefferson From Stone Mountain
LINK
quote:

"It's almost like a black eye or an embarrassing smudge on our culture," McCartney Forde told 11 Alive News on Monday.

quote:

He considers the continued honor an affront to those their government kept in slavery.

quote:

"My efforts aren't to just destroy something, 'cause I understand that does mean something to some people," he said.

"But there should be some room for compromise and there should be something up there that we all could be proud of," he added.

I've been thinking that they will be removed eventually. Especially since the site of the monument was used for KKK rallies back in the day. It's a shame because it's a really impressive piece of art.

What's embarrassing about General Lee and Stonewall Jackson?

Lee and Jackson are two of the greatest military leaders in American history, whose military careers weren't limited to the Civil War. Davis is a different story....

But when we look back on masterpieces such as the Great Wall, palaces in Europe, ect. We look past what they represent and the meanings behind them and simply appreciate the art. Why can't people just understand that?

George Washington owned slaves. Let's get his racist mug off of Mount Rushmore.

The Constitution was written by slave owners. We must burn it, it offends black people.

Stone Mountain will never be removed. Regardless of who's on the sculptures, it's an incredible work of art. The thing is huge.

This guy has clearly never taken an interest in art of any kind. There are so many more offensive pieces of art out there.

We should burn the constitution because it was written a billion years ago and is terribly outdated.
