Beck shared that he felt the nation is reaching a turning point—either begin a revival of faith and respect or continue toward a “cliff” from which there may be no return.
The part of the country where he sees the most potential for a cultural turnaround is the South.
“The South will rise again,” said Beck, “and this time it will save the country, not divide the country.”
quote:
“It’s why we’re kicking things off in Birmingham, Alabama,” he explained. “I think Birmingham, Alabama is going to be a place that restarts the country. It’s known for all of the bad things that happened in the ’50s. I think Birmingham, Alabama, is going to be known for all of the good things that happen here on out, just like Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston is forever going to be known for its good people, and I think Birmingham is going to be next on that list.”

He read it on the golden plates, which now cannot be located.

He has a radio show now and apparently goes on speaking tours.
I'll be the first to admit, I couldn't stand him when he was on Fox News. He was obnoxious.
But as it turns out he's apparently one of those really sneaky kind of geniuses that is so genius it comes across as dumb to lesser minds.

Is this before or after Birmingham goes bankrupt?
Posted on 6/25/15 at 8:01 pm to BowlJackson
Did he choke back tears in the middle of that?

Glen Beck and genius is the same sentence.

Well it's already after Jefferson County went bankrupt.
But with the revival that downtown and several other areas of Birmingham has seen in the last few years, and the way people and businesses have been flocking to move back into Birmingham en masse... I'm just going to say you're a dumbass.

Bham is one of the best cities in the South for young professionals right now.

I've driven through Birmingham ten times or so. Stopped for gas, got something to eat, spent the night at a motel. Seemed like an all right place, I guess.
For anyone there, what the hell is Beck talking about? I mean, I didn't detect some kind of mass movement there, or a group of influential writers or public intellectuals about to become the voice of the nation.

He's saying that this country is headed straight for a cliff the way it's going right now. I agree with that.
In his opinion the only thing that can change our trajectory and save the country as we have known it is a revival of faith. Or at the very least a revival of people respecting one another.
He thinks the South would be the epicenter for such a revival. Which is logical considering how engrained Christianity and respect/manners are into the southern culture. Especially when compared to other regions of the country.
He considers the way the people of Charleston reacted to the church shootings and came together as a city as evidence that a turn around can be achieved and would be led by the South.
For whatever reason he thinks Birmingham could potentially be at the forefront of such a movement. Perhaps because of the Birmingham's well known past in Civil Rights he thinks that Birmingham could become a symbol of change during such a movement that he is speaking.
Being from Birmingham, I don't disagree with him that Birmingham could and would come together the way Charleston has.
What I'm not sure of is how he thinks such a change or "revival" would come about and take a foot hold outside of the South

Sure it does.
I bet he misses playing with his chalk board though.

Oh, I see. So Beck thinks Birmingham is gonna be the tip of the spear in a new Great Awakening for the 21st century.
I suspect churches are thick on the ground there, like everywhere else in the South. But it's always been that way, you know.
"Birmingham - the New Jerusalem for the 21st Century." Maybe that's the title of Beck's next book.

I would support a Rising of The South again...

I thought he came out and admitted he was turning in to a paranoid lunatic at the end of his Fox News days. I liked Glenn Beck when he was on CNN Headlines News, but that was almost a decade ago, and he was what I would have called a moderate. Then he turn in to some crazy survivalist, got really in to Mormonism, and started changing turning in to some sort of lunatic.

The south has already risen. We just forgot to mention that it would be in football.
