Hey y'all im here in Brunswick Georgia for training. My wife and kids will becoming in August to visit any recommendations for family fun? Don't want to do any Florida attractions as we have been to Florida many times. I'm looking to try out some good BBQ in Georgia and South Carolina. I am a Tejano so I know a thing or two about bbq. Also I'm looking to take my kids to the beach, which ones do y'all recommend?. Thanks for your help.

Savannah can be fun with the family, ghost tours and all that. Jekyll Island is worth taking the family to as well.

You won't see much bbq beef on menus there. Mostly pork and chicken. Oh, and Brunswick stew.

If you're hanging around the coast with the family, st simons and Jekyll are givens. Nice little beach towns and st. Simons has Southern Soul BBQ which is consistently voted as one of the best BBQ places in the south, let alone the state. Beyond that, definitely worth driving up to Savannah and doing some of the touristy things up there. Steer clear of Hilton head; just overrated and yankee-infested. You can drive further up the coast to some of the Carolina islands (Kiawah, edisto, etc) and go all the way to charleston if you want (worth seeing but a bit of a drive from Brunswick).
Beyond that, you can either venture into FL or drive west to Valdosta. Be warned there's next to nothing on I-16 before you hit 75 at Macon and then another 2 hours into Atlanta.

Just a bunch of horrible people sparsely scattered like weeds.

For a visiting family, places like Metter and Dublin and Statesboro arent exactly on my list of can't miss places.
