Gents who have done the snip, tell me all about it

Wifey and I have decided that we are done having kids. Pregnancy sucks, losing sleep sucks, kids getting sick at daycare sucks...but kids are great, I swear!
So as is natural for a father in 2016, I get to take the bullet, because equality really means the man has to do all the shite for a few hundred years until women feel like history is all square.
(Real reason - insurance covers most of a vasectomy)
I have never had surgery before. I consider myself a surgery pussy. I have a vasovagal response to needles if I'm not lying down (not AIDS, been tested). What can I expect? Do they put you under? That shite scares me a bit. Recovery time? Do they give you an erection blocker?

I'm curious to hear as well, as I'm hoping my planned talk about being one in done goes over (keep your fingers crossed for me). I've been through some massive surgeries due to a wild youth catching up to me, and they don't bother me one bit. This one on the other hand scares the shite out of me. I'd be fine if they knocked me out cold, but from my limited research, they just numb you and do it while conscience. That ain't happening.

It's really not that bad.
Here is my experience:
1. doc was older and had a shite ton of experience.
2. I noticed his hands shook a bit as he was about to give me the anesthetic. :
3. The shot really doesn't hurt bad. Suck it up, buttercup.
4. One side was smooth sailing.
5. The other side...holy shite! A horse kicked my in my nut! I can feel this!
6. Recovery with frozen peas on the package.
7. Wear a jock strap. Keep the boys in tight.
8. It's near Christmas time and I'm feeling great 3 days post op. I go shopping in regular boxer briefs. by the end of the trip I'm walking like a 80 year old man with a deuce hanging out his arse. Pain. :
9. My nuts are blacker than night and swollen. ::wah:
10. Back to the jock strap and all was well after a couple of hours bed rest to let the balls simmer down.]
Don't overdo it. The surgery is largely easy unless you are resistant to anesthetic like I am. Then, well, you have a horse kicking your nut. But it's fast so that's the silver lining.

Had it done. Rested one day with ice on my boys. Back to work the next day
I have had teeth filled that were more of a big deal.

The worst was the anesthesia. Not a fan of having a needle in my balls. Other than that, I was fortunate to have no pain at all during my recovery. I enjoyed the pain meds and iced my balls for the weekend. I took it easy for the week and didn't have an issue

I recommend having her tubes tied.

Send her away for a long weekend and get it done without her knowing if planned talk does not go over. Father of a one and done.

I made my doctor do mine in the or. They put me to sleep for about 20 min. Only way i would consider doing it, I have heard too many horror stories of guys that weren't numb enough. I had some issues after recovery, got a reoccuring infection in one of the tubes that were clipped.

Had mine in the doctor's office. The shot was not bad and numbed me. He got his scalpel and said, "they're trying to escape, don't worry as it happens every time". That gave me a smile and really put me at ease.
No problems at all.

Mine was not bad. Never took any of the pain meds. Had it done in the office. He used a tool that would pierce through and had a hook close to the end. He would punch through, grab the tube with the hook, and pull it out. The worst part was smelling the tubes burning and thinking "Man, my nuts smell terrible on fire". Made sure the plumbing worked after three days. Never had any swelling, pain, or discoloration.

Nothing to it. Simple surgery and requires minimal down time with something cold on your nuggets. Usually a bag of frozen pea's works well to be honest.

Just PIIHB, it's practically the same thing.
ETA: On a serious note, if you're that concerned about surgery y'all could consider an IUD. They are almost as effective as a vasectomy, are reversible, and don't require surgery.

Had it 16 years ago. Easy. Very little pain afterward - kinda a pulling sensation. Be sure you empty the chamber several times before you have unprotected sex.
Orgasm is the same.
