Do any of you know anything about the duplexes off Longleaf?

Specifically, say, any reason that I shouldn't go lease one tomorrow?

Remember a couple years ago when a few people got shot (killed) in Auburn. That apartment complex was off of Longleaf. Doesn't mean that's a bad place to live, but it has a little history that's not so pleasant

I lived off longleaf for 2 years and there was nothing wrong with it. The houses and duplexes at the end of longleaf were pretty nice.

Eta. I haven't been back since 2011 so who knows how it is now but I would imagine 5 years isn't that big of a change.

Those duplexes used to be a really nice place, but now not so much. I lived in one of the apartment complexes on Longleaf. That area has gone to shite. So many thug arse people in that area. I'd suggest looking at something closer to the university.

If you lease one just remember the place may look nice but you can't pick your neighbors.

Good luck.

I think it's Tiger Lodge.

It was the exchange when it first opened. All the complexes change names every so often. They get a bad stigma and re-brand.

That area is a little bit of a hike from campus.

There are some nice spots out and around auburn, but the areas adjacent to campus really are the better experience IMO. They might not be big and have all the extras, but being able to walk to campus, downtown, and being close to gameday activities outweighs all else

All of this. Especially for a freshman.

OP, does your kid have a roommate lined up or is she looking to live alone? Obviously, you can get a much better deal on a rental with a roommate(s).

Longleaf seems like it is listed daily in the police reports.

It's for my youngest son. He does have a roommate lined up. I was actually hoping he'd live on campus the first year, but even with all the new units, there aren't enough yet to avoid having a wait list.

We are referring to properties adjacent to campus. Like other side of magnolia and other side of college street, near campus.

Also a plus for you if you want to come gamedays, because of parking.

My one regret in Auburn is moving away from walking distance after my sophomore year

Two 21 Armstrong is a fairly new complex. Quality amenities. Favorable guy/girl ratio. 2 blocks from campus

I have some friends who stay at Creekside and love it. Their clubhouse is pretty chill.

Two 21 was expensive as shite when I was there. I think close to 800$ a person for a two bedroom.

Yeah it was expensive when I was there, but I figured the price might have dropped a little since its not as new now.

Two 21 gets booked full by February or so for the next fall OP's best bet is to contact Northcutt or First Realty and ask about what they have available starting closest to campus.

As someone who just moved out of Auburn two months ago I wouldn't live anywhere on Longleaf or further down South College than the Edge apartments behind Loco's. And especially not as a freshman.

Greywood (Northcutt property). These are cheap and a bit older. However, they get the job done and are walking distance to everything.

I'll have to ask, but I'm pretty sure they have a bus that runs to the campus.

I know a lot of the apartments in T-Town do that. I stayed at the Retreat back in 2014 and didn't have to pay for parking.

Friend of mine lived in a duplex condo off longleaf all 4 years. Longleaf Villas. Very nice. Quiet neighborhood. Good mix of young working people, attractive sorostitutes, and units that are empty most of the year because people have them to stay on game weekends. This was 2009-2012

My friend lives in Longleaf Villas and this is the second time she's lived there. They're nice and quiet. Gated complex, IIRC.
