Spin off of the golden tiger thread

BBC doesn't count, Klarvin

Kangaroo
Shark fin
Buffalo
Gator
Rabbit
Emu
Venison
Haggis
Wagyu chateaubriand
Humuhumunukunukuapuaa - it's just a triggerfish but I wanted to say that
More I can't remember, seafood opens a whole 'nother can of worms

I've had black pudding and it's fine. Polish blood soup is awful though.

I would try dog if I was in Korea. DWI.

Whatever they put into the food they cook in small towns in Louisiana. I don't ask and don't want to know. Plus emu, rattlesnake, etc

It's good and you can't buy it at Kroger but I would hardly consider something I can find in the freezer of every person I know "exotic."

I had some boudin one time that they refused to tell me what it was. I'm guessing squirrel, possum, or armadillo

If it was braised, and cooked with potatoes and carrots...I wouldn't ask either. I bet it was good though.

I'm not gonna change the thread title just because exotic isn't the exact right word for venison.

Most people in America have never had it.

Conch (in a corn fritter with key lime dipping sauce ) and Gator are probably the most exotic for me.

Ok. I was just thinking everything else on your list seems way more "out there."

It was probably nutria.

It's apparently pretty good meat. I'm just waiting for some restaurant in New Orleans to start serving it and have it get popular with all the foodies.

Buffalo in places like Montana is pretty common too. You can get a buffalo burger in most restaurants.

I miss having a freezer full of venison, and the jerky

Bison burgers are pretty popular here in some more upscale eateries. Our local Whole Foods and Rainbow Blossom carries them too. For some reason I've just never tried them.

I've eaten monkey meat while deep in the Amazon basin in Ecuador.

And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Possum. years ago I had a customer who lived and worked in Greenwood SC. He used to think it was hilarious to take us city slicker salespeople to lunch at a local eatery that sold Possum. He'd insist that we try it.. so I did.

Greasy is the only thing I remember.

Then I'll say more. They hunt a bunch of different kinds of monkeys for food down there. I believe I ate a red howler monkey. They put it in a type of casserole so it would be a bit more palatable.

I like to try the local food wherever I'm at.

I've had all of the above except for Kangaroo, Emu, and Haggis. I've also had grilled cuttlefish
