Just my opinion, but a stationary bike will serve you much better especially if you have back or knee problems. They are cheaper too.

I bought a $200 elliptical from Academy Sports. It suits me just right and I spend 30 minutes a day on it.

No frills, non computerized. They do have many more as you can see. LINK

They have 2 types at my gym. The one with the arm handles and the ones without. I feel like the ones with arm handles give a better work out since you are moving more of your body. Just turn the resistance up pretty good. These are great cardio machines for using while watching a game.

I bought the Body Rider Fan Elliptical Trainer several years ago and paid 200.

I just looked on Amazon and it is $130.

Have you thought about getting a cheap gym membership first(like Planet Fitness $10 per month) That way you could at least see if you are going to stick with a while plus you would be able to weight train as well.It seems most home gym equipment ends up eventually becoming a clothes rack. Plus lots of people have a hard time getting motivated to exercise at home.

Get one that requires upper body movement. You can do HIT on that and get one hell of a workout.

Don't know about knees, but an elliptical is much better for a bad back than a stationary bike. I used one extensively during physical therapy after back surgery.

OP, check Craiglist. You can usually find some soccer mom looking to get rid of one cheap after begging her husband for one, then never using it.
