I gave up that shaving shite as quick as I could as soon as I got my walking papers from the military

Just trim it and I love it

Personally I prefer to shave in the shower. It's not so much the type of razor you use as it is the aftercare. (Unless you are using the same disposable razor a month later, nothing can fix that damage)

I do use a saving brush and maca root cream for my face and pine tar bar soap for my head. Sometimes a combination of the two.

After shaving, Always Always splash with cold water to close your pores and use a nice aftershave.

Thats the best advice I can give from experience of shaving face/head for the past 7-8 years or so.

I don't fully shave much anymore, but when I do I just use a 2-blade schick. Read somewhere that men with thicker beards the less# of blades the better. I tried using the single razor blade deal like pops uses, but don't shave enough to get use to it. So I just buy a 10 pack of green Schick double blades (with moisture strip of course), and that lasts for a couple yrs.

I trim down with a trimmer. Soak my face with hot water and shave downward only. Little spot under my chin is really my only major sensitive spot. I also can't shave after I shower. That's just me though.

Do yourself a favor and switch from foam shaving cream to this

You will thank me later. You will get a much better shave and your face will also thank you.

Money bags? No it is the same cost going to get a good razor and supplies and you do not have to clean up the sink. As I said do not go every day.

Double edge razors are the way to go. Dollar Shave Club or whatever it's called is a ripoff. When you look at what you have to pay monthly for quality razors it isn't worth it. I have 3 diff lathers and I've only used half of the first one. I started on my birthday 15 months ago and it's lasted that long.

I rarely shave, when I do.. I have a Gillette Mach 4 and the dollar shaving cream. I have light colored hair so I go with the scruffy look most of the time. Aint nobody got time for dat shite. It's been like a year or more since I bought blades and the last ones were a four pack. I do have a Wahl's trimmer though and use it somewhat often.

Buy a middling (not super cheap disposable) razor. I shave in the shower. Using soap. Shaving cream is a waste of money. If you dry the razor after you use it (some people wipe them with a mineral or vegetable oil, but I just make sure mine is dry), it will last a very, very long time. Many months. Your facial hair does not dull the blade. Oxidation does. If you have to replace the blade cartridge more than once every 4-5 months, you're doing something wrong.

This is the answer. Shower shaving is the only way to go.

I don't know shite about razors, but I use Harry's and I like them. Don't be cheap. Get a new razor every other month at least unless you want ingrown hairs and TP on your face at work. EDIT: Advice about blades above confirms I don't know shite about them. Clean your blades as posters say above.

1. Splash your face with the hottest water you can stand. This opens your pores and screws your face up less. Do this for a good while, say 3-5 minutes. If you're in the shower, the steam will help open the pores too.

2. Apply shaving cream. I don't know shite about creams, but I use the one that comes with Harry's razors. It's fine.

3. Shave with the grain, slowly but steadily.

4. After you shave with the grain, re-splash your face with hot water. Re-apply shaving cream and shave against the grain. I also go slower on this part, but to each his own.

5. Rinse your face with cold water. This closes your pores and also gets shaving shite off your face.

6. Use aftershave if you're a masochist.

Witch hazel is the best after shave, and there are some made specifically as an after shave. Thayer's is one brand and they sell it at Whole Foods.

Well never mind. Apparently NineLine was having a sale today. My wife just cleaned them out and I have a new wardrobe. I guess I get to be a stereotype now.

Dry it how? Just rinsing it and setting it down to dry is not enough, like a quick dry?

Based upon the advice in this thread, going to try shower shaving tomorrow.

I don't even use the soap, just water. Started shaving this way in Vietnam. Occasionally use shaving cream for a special occasion and I want to insure no irritation, but this is rare.

Let me know how you like it. It took me a shave or two but I love it now. Face is smooth, easier to shave and it moisturizes your skin.
