Dude nails it. What he also failed to mention is that those of us who eat clean, work out, and never have to go to the doctor because we're healthy are having to subsidize the fatties through higher insurance premiums. In fact, we've complained to HR that our health insurance premiums have been eating up our entire cost of living raises for the past 5 years. We were told point blank that it's just a small handful of employees that are driving the costs up. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know who they're talking about. We get to see the time sheets which shows how much sick time and vacation time every employee has accrued. The healthy people all have their sick time maxed-out at 1,080 hours. The fatties hardly have any.

As a fatty, I disagree with your wide brush strokes. I've used no sick time or missed any work for any health issues in 4 years. And the last time I did have to take off, it was two days for the flu that went around everyone in the office. Maybe you have a job that employees the truly morbidly obese, but there are some of us out there that eat alright and don't take working out too seriously.

Sorry, about your premiums though, you could always just get fat and actually use what you're paying for.

Maybe they are bumping up your rates because you're an a-hole.

At some point in this guy's life, he was sitting in a bar bragging about how the SEALs really wanted him to join, but he was working on his UFC career at the time, so he had to tell them no THREE TIMES until they finally went away. He still keeps in touch with those guys though, because they're all friends.

FATTTTTY YOU SICKEN MEH!!!

in all seriousness, his message is a decent one, but if you want to talk about solving the childhood obesity problem start in the schools. Take a good look at lunch menus and what qualifies as a "vegetable"

Do you have some statistics to back up your assertion that children who eat school lunches are more likely to be obese than children who do not?

Fair enough, but I still don't care about your opinion.

I think the childhood obesity problem is more with how the parents generally opt for convenience of something quick and cheap to shut their kids up, than considering the long term health implications of a diet consisting entirely of McDonalds, microwavable chicken nuggets, and soda.

There's that aspect, then there's the exercise angle. When I was a kid we had one primary toy. It was a football. Now kids would rather park their ever-widening asses in front of the TV playing video games, watching YouTube, or surfing social media to participate in juvenile drama. On my days off I take my kids to the gym with me. They don't have to powerlift or anything, but they have to do SOMETHING besides staying home on the internet. They can play basketball, tennis, rock-climbing, swim, cardio, or lift with me. The choice is theirs.

Well, I've already been to the gym today and have consumed 3 clean meals and a protein shake, so I'm good.

That's fair. Growing up I played a lot of baseball, basketball, and some soccer. Then I got to college, wasn't playing a sport any more, kept eating like I had, but just stopped all the organized work out stuff. Now, I'm a married 26 year old about to graduate with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering. I still play pick up basketball, bar league kick ball, and most enjoyably golf, I just went from being a 5'10" 170 kid to a 5'10" 235 guy who enjoys competition without training for it.

Good on you though for getting your kids out of the house. Computers and tv tend to suck the life out of everybody.

I hate this term, even though 80-90% of my meals qualify.

Why? All it means is that I didn't consume any saturated fats or sugars. I had a packet of oatmeal with 3 boiled eggs, 6 oz chicken with 6 oz of veggies, then 8 oz bison with 1/2 cup of mixed rice. That's pretty damn clean. Why hate the term?

I'd have to see your body composition, but 235 seems a little heavy at 5'10". I have a very small frame and am kicking along at 5'10"/210 lbs; however, I'm pretty solid. I haven't done a straight bar bench press in over a year, but last time I did it was at 350 at the end of a workout......and I'm 41 years old. Not sure what your BF% is, but you should get it under 15% at a minimum.

It's not a big deal, but it conjures up images of a certain type of person that takes themselves too seriously. I eat stuff like oatmeal, plain Greek yogurt, avocado, leaf vegetables, etc. every single day... I even avoid oatmeal packets and stick to steel-cut or whole oat groats, but I'm not going to harp on how clean or healthy I eat. Then again, I go out to eat 2-3 times a week and don't worry about "clean" eating.

I wasn't trying to start shite, just a buzz word that makes me smile.
