If God controls the weather then he sure as frick doesn't like New Orleans.

Not sure if that's an argument for or against, honestly.

Personally I believe God controls all the good things about weather. Rainy days when the plants are thirsty. Sunny Saturdays when you want to enjoy a day outside. But he definitely doesnt control hurricanes and tornadoes. If you were a better person you wouldnt be impacted by such devastating events. Its because you didnt pray hard enough. And the earth is definitely only 6000 years old. Only silly scientist believe otherwise because they lost their faith. Dont need your facts bud, i have Jesus.

Or Oklahoma. Which is weird because it's such a religious state.

This, although He may intervene in cases of prayer.
By and large though, He created this earth and gave it to us to run. We certainly influence the weather in various ways.

I'm just curious how many people are creationists here, and if they believe the earth is about 6,000 years old?

I would describe myself as someone who believes in an old earth, 'guided' evolution model.

I believe in what Christians call God. I believe that God created our universe, defined the laws of physics, and provided a guiding 'hand' in the evolution of life on this planet. I don't believe that earth is only 6,000 years old. I also believe that science will never prove or disprove God because God is, by definition, not of our universe - to have created a universe, God would necessarily have to exist external to it.

I look at it like this - the Bible is only one source of understanding of God's creation. The other is the actual physical universe we live in. To believe that earth is only 6,000 years old is to believe that God is a liar who intentionally deceived by making it look as if the earth is much, much, much older than 6,000 years old.

He gave us free will. He's still in control, but he lets people do stupid things. Stupid, evil, etc.

No. Fairly confident the atmosphere does, though.

Really? How many prayers before he/she intervenes? Is there a threshold?

God gave us brains and free will, how we choose to use these is up to us, however if we remain spiritually connected to Him yes he controls all.

Only if there's still time, after answering all those prayers.

Why do people that swear up and down that there is no God, spend so much of their lives asking questions about Him?

Just curious? I don't believe in unicorns but then I don't spend all of my time trying to find them so that I can tell people that I can't find them.......
