I get breakfast there about once a week and it is always great.

I have friends from Washington, Texas and Colorado that love it and always want a local chain in their location, but they are hard to find out West.

But most Southerners I talk to just brush it aside.

Where do you other guys get your own breakfasts other than cooking it at home? (...which I mostly do as well).

I have never had a problem with Waffle House. But it sure gets a bad reputation sometimes on this site.

Your opinions are welcome. As are your own recommendations for breakfast options where you come from.

p.s., their hash browns are glorious. They fry those things with butter, salt, caramelized onions and bell peppers.

In coastal Mississippi the dislike is more related to the clientele and employees than it is to the food. I personally don't have a problem with the place and enjoy the surrounding circus.

Getting off a long shift that goes to 3 AM, love it.

I didn't know what a blue waffle was until I started hanging around on tRant. Completely ruined me on the waffle word.

I eat Waffle House unapologetically. I get the All Star Special (eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and a waffle) and add a bowl of grits. It's enormous.

Lots of great local breakfast spots around town, too. I hit one up at least once a week.

This. If I'm eating breakfast somewhere, it's Cracker Barrel.

Waffle House is fine if you are on the road and not cooking at home

Better than …..

Cracker Barrel
Bob Evans
Chick Fil A
McDonalds
Other national crappy chain

Obviously their breakfast is amazing, but they don't get enough credit for their non breakfast items. Their burgers and steaks are pretty good too. Where else am I going to get a cheeseburger with a side of eggs and a waffle?

Waffle House has a great reputation in the South. I don't know how you determined it doesn't.

If I'm on the road for work and there isn't a convenient or good local place, it's always Waffle House. There's a lot to be said for consistency and decent pricing.

It's pretty well known nationally as the place you can get some good, greasy breakfast food when your drunk arse needs it at 3 am.

That said, it fricks my stomach up so I can't do it all that often.

I eat the shite out of Waffle House, we only have a few out here in Colorado. I recently went back to the Gulf for vacation and it was glorious seeing a Waffle House on every interstate exit again

There's a first watch in Hoover. Looks pretty gay.

Amen brother! You are preaching to the choir, have an up vote.

Order a steak medium rare or eggs over easy and it is the same in any Waffle House. It truly amazes me how consistent their cooks are from store to store and state to state.
