DHL wraps huge packages in thermoactive foil, which turns black below freezing but is clear above freezing temperatures, and ships them using competitors.

Wait, are they only shipping via competitor in order to troll?

Yep. Their marketing team came up with the idea.

I work for DHL in global sales. :-) This was a viral video done by our marketing group.

DHL is a division of Deutsche Post. worlds largest parcel carrier (yes bigger than UPS or FedEx). 500,000 employees. Worlds largest air and ocean freight forwarder and one of the largest contract logistics (warehouse) providers globally.

Many in the US dont recognize us as much since our parcel express division only do international parcel shipments in this market.

My favorite part of that video is that the UPS clowns figure it out and tape over the box with packing tape. The TNT and FedEx guys just deliver the box.

My brother works for UPS, so I'm biased, but that is freaking awesome DHL.

My dad worked for DHL ofor 25 years in the US. I believe they could have been a player in the US market if not for some poor decisions concerning acquisitions among other things.

I probably know your dad. The mistakes DHL made in the US market should be a harvard doctoral thesis on how NOT to do mergers and acquisitions. Billion dollar disaster. Fortunately, its a very big company and we got well from it. Very profitable now.

He has worked everywhere from LA, ATL, Houston but spent a good amount of time in Cinci. He left a few years after the acquisition of Airborne. They begged him to stay but he was ready to get out.

I got a kick out of this. I'll have to tell him that as a joke.

I feel like I am certain to know your Dad then. I joined DHL in 2004. I work in Atlanta and CVG is our hub operation.

The story of the DHL Airborne acquisition F up is legendary. Dont get me started.

If you were at cvg around 2004 you would know him. I got the opportunity to walk through the hub several times and the new automation at that time was pretty awesome.

LOL that's funny.

If I were UPS, I would reciprocate immediately with an ad campaign that says they tried to do the same thing, but DHL was too expensive and wouldn't deliver to the same locations.

DHL tried to compete in the US with FEDEX and UPS for a while, didn't they? But then they closed that piece of their business?

Don't they still have service in the US? I regularly receive packages sent by DHL they are actually delivered by USPS.
