Fun read: Deadspin

Here's how the SEC States fared:

2. South Carolina - shrimp and grits
5. Georgia - peach cobbler
6. Louisiana - gumbo
7. Florida - key lime pie
8. Alabama - fried green tomatoes
12. Kentucky - burgoo
T-15. Tennessee and Missouri - Memphis and Kansas City style ribs
20. Texas - brisket
26. Arkansas - fried catfish
32. Mississippi - mud pie

Burgoo is kinda like Brunswick stew. Y'all got that don't you?

And mud pie is fricking delicious. Get out of the house.

In fact any of the SEC foods y'all are welcome to bring to my tailgate at any time. Good eats. No surprise we're all ranked high and the North and Midwest are terrible. shite food for shite people.

I love peach cobbler like a family member and all, but I probably would have gone with something like Brunswick Stew for GA just due to how unique it is relative to cobbler.

Also, fried green tomatoes with some white sauce or chipotle ranch makes tolerable the existence of Alabama as a state.

Bruh, I don't think Mississippi invented catfish.

I've always considered a chocolate cake, pudding, marshmellow and nuts gooey mess a Mississippi mud pie since I was a kid.

We dont put mellows on ours but it looks similar. I think we use a graham crust a lot of cool whip and chocolate pudding and not much else. Pretty simple thing. But good.

Bleah on mud pie. That's ridiculous as a "best". I'll gladly share Arkansas' affinity for fried catfish.

How much did the whistle stop influence that?

Texas brisket is damn good. It's the mesquite.

I actually prefer it to pork, as it's leaner, less greasy, and makes for better sandwiches (IMO).

And Texans eat BBQ differently, as does every BBQ state. We don't use mayo because mayo in the Texas heat doesn't do good.

South Carolina didn't invent Shrimp and Grits either.

They adopted it as their "state food" in the 70's
