I like the Synchrony Bank Mastercard (Sam's) for gas purchases. It gives 5% cash back on those. It's pretty easy to max out the benefit with 5 drivers. (Drops to 1% after $6k in fuel).

ETA - It also pays you 3% cash back on travel and 1% on all other purchases.

I just got $1500 in travel rewards with my Chase Sapphire Reserve card. They just cut that $1500 in half. I guess too many people taking advantage of it.

I've never met a wealthy person who chases credit card brownie points.

My boss opens up a new I want to say Delta but maybe another airline Credit Card every year for the initial bonus miles they give you for signing up. 50,000 miles or so. Puts on the minimum balance to get the miles and cancels the fricker. Takes a free trip on them and tells em to shove it. The American Dream.

Just about every wealthy person I know uses a credit card with a points system for all of their purchases. They all use an Amex.

I have the AMEX Blue Cash preferred. There is a 75 annual fee but I get 6% back on groceries, 3% back on gas and 1% on everything else. The APR sucks a dick and they won't drop it but I have also never carried a balance on it.

Pure cashback card I would go with the Citi Double Cash.

I have a capital one credit card. 3% cash back on all gas, 2% cash back on all groceries, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Works well for me

I didn't say wealthy people don't own credit cards with point systems, although most of the ones I know don't believe in debt of any kind, I'm saying they don't chase brownie points.

"Brownie points"? WTH are you talking about? We're talking about ways to get cash back from everyday CC purchases. As others have pointed out, most wealthy people do this--you know, because they're probably smart and it's free money.

BTW--I decided to go with the chase triple combo--freedom+freedom unlimited+sapphire. Seems like a nice set-up although pairing the citi double + amex blue was very tempting.

The guy that owns the house across the street from mine and just uses it as a game day house has a Hilton credit card that's black and made out of metal. I've never seen anything like that till he paid for dinner one night.

USAA 1% cash back on everything with no limits.

Read the fine print on the super high reward cards.... that 3% may cap out at a couple hundred dollars and minus the annual fee, you are really only getting like .75-1% back in the big picture.

If I were wealthy, I wouldn't either. No need to.

I don't have a credit card anymore, I earn interest, not pay it.
