I am not really a fan of trying to prevent young children from developing normally. People change and find themselves in a different place as they hit puberty. I also am wary of papa state telling parents what to do. Is my teaching my children about Christian morality because it might have negative impacts on their psyche according to the government?

how would an 11 year old have any say in this stuff? This isn't about what parent they want to live with and using that as a consideration. This is a life changing decision that they are letting a stupid 11 year old make.

did I misread the article? I thought it said parents like as in the kid is doing what it wants regardless of the parents, not just the dad.

I think the mom is enabling her behavior. There's no way she got hormone blockers on her own. It's very likely the mom is saying she can be whatever and whoever she wants to be and letting her make her own decisions while the dad sees how retarded all of this is and that 11 year olds shouldn't make permanent life changing decisions.

The way I read it is that the parents are estranged from the kid and that is why the Court issues the kid a new legal guardian. If the mother was enabling her then why would the court appoint a legal guardian?
