Ok, im thinking about getting a Chemex or an Aeropress, but im not sure which one to get so I was going to see if anybody here had either one of these.

Also, what is a good, quality tasting pre-ground coffee that is available in stores or online. Im looking to step my coffee game up. Thanks!

ETA: Is it worth it to start grinding my own coffee beans?

Just got one of the new Keurig 2.0 machines and they have a 'strong' setting for coffee that I am liking a lot.

9/10 coffee troll.Well done.

I've had an aeropress, and I loved it. It's really quick to make coffee. Great flavor, and good for 1-2 people to get a full sized cup. I just wish I had a way to get the water yo 170ish easier. Using a thermometer to get it at three right spot can be a little tricky, but not that bad.

But it's really cheap. Even if you just use it for camping, it's worth it. Great if you want French press taste without the sludge.

Do you drink only 1 cup or do you drink several cups in a sitting? If just 1 cup then a keurig is nice since its easy to make and you can buy a screened cup that allows you to grind your own beans and make fresh coffee. Packaged keurig coffees are just awful and extremely overpriced shite. The only problem with using the screened cups is if you drink a lot of coffee it is highly inefficient for the amount of coffee you have to use vs making 8-12 cups in a standard coffee maker. I prefer to use a cheap coffee maker and grind my beans before every use. Most people prefer to spend a lot of money on an expensive coffee maker then use shite coffee.

Bean grinder and a French press. Takes a little longer, but if you want good coffee instead of fast coffee, it's well worth it.

This. And if you want perfect coffee, go for some purified water in your coffee pot.

I keep an old coffee can and I'll grind once a week. That's still a lot fresher and more flavorful than any preground coffee.

That's a good idea to just do it once a week like that. I think I'll try that out

I'd just spend about 40 bucks on a French press, a good one. And you'll need a tea kettle.

Press pot is a good thing to have. Easy to rinse out and set to dry. Takes up almost no counter space. I brew iced team in mine, too. You'll eventually break the glass, but replacements are like 15 bucks. If you want to avoid that, spend 60 or so and get a stainless.

Benefit of a press pot/French press is it allows the oils to remain in the coffee, making it smoother. Anything with a paper filter soaks up most of the natural oils in the beans.

Do you live in Oxford? I bet you have a coffee house that sells quality beans (shop local). You might even have a roastery at one of them.

We have a pretty killer coffee scene here. Several local roasteries. A few brew kombucha in house, and at least one applies lactic acid fermentation to some of their beans before roasting.

Not all of the local stuff is to my palate, but its interesting to try different varieties. I'd way rather spend my 15 bucks on a bag of locally roasted beans than on some pre-ground Starbucks from Walgreens or something.

Yea I'm usually either in Jackson or Oxford. I know we have a place in Oxford that roasts their own beans so I'll probably check them out. Thanks!

Saw French Press earlier and felt my nether parts wiggle a bit, but then saw they were still talking about coffee.

There's always some tool that comes in and tries to make fun of other guys for enjoying some finer things in life. What kind of man cares about how another man brews his freaking coffee?

I use a french press that I bought off amazon, coffee grinder (I do different whole beans, but mostly cheap stuff), and purified water out of a water cooler/heater. The heat function allows me to not have a kettle or bring water close to a boil.

I will say this, the French press has produced the best coffee I've ever made.

I have the aeropress and love it. Easy to clean and makes a great cup of coffee.

As far as a one stop coffee buying shop try yankeeprepper.com. He was the cheapest I found the aero press for and he sends a sample of his coffee with it. Be careful with the aeropress though cause there's some Chinese imitations out there.

What's the difference in taste with an aeropress and French press?

Main difference to me is the smoothness. Aeropress is completely particle free and the paper filter absorbs some of the oil out of the coffee and my French press has a wire filter that doesn't. They both make good coffee though. I do canoe tripping and backpacking so I needed the aero press cause it's plastic and no clean up. Just pop out the puck and wipe.
If you go to that link and watch his YouTube videos he covers all that. He used to own a coffee shop and now he just runs an online store selling the coffee.
