This is extremely cool. Was picking my grandson up from elementary school an hour ago and saw this. its a kind of circular rainbow called a "circumhorizontal arc". formed by ice crystals in cirrus clouds. Not sure how rare but I had neither seen nor heard of this until an hour ago!
