Cigar smokers, I have a question about seasoning a new humidor

Not sure if it matters but it's a small humidor (35-50 capacity).
I know to use distilled water. I've watched a few YouTube videos and I have a question about which method I should use:
1) the method involving physically coating the cedar lining with distilled water using a new sponge or lint-free cloth. I'd compare this method to "staining" the wood. This seems to be less time consuming.
2) filling a small glass with distilled water and placing it in the humidor once a day for a week or so and letting the wood absorb the water the slow way.
Is either of these methods really better than than the other?

I'd skip that, fill it with cigars & a thermometer/hygrometer to start & check in 24 hours.
Most of the time I've found I don't need any type of humidification; but, I like mine a bit dryer, as recommended for Habanos. So, as always, ymmv...

Yea, I figure 65% would be ideal. I live in the Mississippi Delta so it's humid as hell most of the time. Definitely don't to overdo it.
