Hi. My mom was just diagnosed with Gliosarcoma. A rare and aggressive brain tumor. This might be her last Christmas. It's really hard getting in the spirit of doing anything. My kids are young, and I want them to have a good Christmas with her. Any ideas on what to get her?

Sorry for what her and your family is going through. Cancer stinks. I lost both my parents to it.

Buy her something that might help comfort her in her treatment, and then something that will help take her mind off of her illness as much as possible.

Make sure you and your family spend as much time with her as possible this season.

Prayers for her.

First, I'd make sure that she's satisfied with what she got for her grandchildren. If she's still able, take her shopping and help her pick out memorable gifts for her family members. To answer your question though, I'd probably just stick with something personal like nice framed photographs or a painting of a picture of her when she was young.

Wow. I am very sorry for your moms illness. I think the best answer to your question is you and your families direct involvement in her situation. Just be with her. Helps tremendously.

As for gifts, pajamas (nice ones), other things that provide feminine creature comforts. Do you have sisters? Get them to help here.

Yeller is exactly right. She will be most happy with giving the right gifts to her grandchildren. UP Vote.

Thanks. She's currently in hospital for brain swelling. My brother and dad went to get a tree for the house today. I was at the hospital with her and my kids. They face timed with her and let her "pick" out the tree. Then went home and let her give the ok where to place it. She's really confused and it's hard for her to verbalize what she wants. She starts chemo/radiation Monday. We were in Destin over Thnksgiving. My kids picked out this ridiculously expensive ($24) mermaid doll toy they wanted. The kind that they sell in dollar stores. She insisted on buying that for them since it is what they wanted. I just stepped away and let her buy them.
The kids make her happy. My dad just Had quadruple bypass in September. She was taking care of him, now he takes care of her.

Something meaningful to my grandmother was a build a bear that all the grandkids got together and built for her. We put a heart for each grandchild in the bear and now every time my grandmother goes to sleep she "holds her grandkids hearts" by having that bear by her side.

Sometimes it's the meaning behind a present that means so much more than the present itself.

I'm sorry to hear about that man. When my grandmother was dying, the family made a really warm quilt for her with all our names on it. I think it helped her a little bit.

Damn man, my mom was diagnosed with cirrhosis this year. Don't think we will lose her just yet but reality has set in. I'm getting at the age when the older generation starts knocking off one by one.
