Chance Encounters

I recently had a chance encounter with a childhood friend I hadn't seen in over 20 years. He moved to a different state during our 8th grade year. We kept in touch for a year or two after he moved, but eventually just went on with our lives.
Hadn't really thought much about him over the years, but literally bumped into him in a restaurant when I was back home visiting a few months ago. Like I turned around from the bar and he was standing right in front of me. The weird thing is I hadn't planned on going home to visit that weekend. It was just a Friday morning decision, and I only went to that restaurant because the first one I went to had over an hour wait. And he was only there because he was there on business and his meeting ran late that day and he missed his flight so he had to stay an extra night.
Anyway, we ended up sharing a table and catching up and left vowing to keep in touch better. But I often think about everything that fell into place for us to cross paths again. Weird shite, man.
Anyone experienced something similar?

It's a small world. 7.2 billion people is not as many as you think

I saw a buddy of mine in a steakhouse bathroom ten hours from home once growing up. Weird shite.

This story sounds like a love story. Are you planning on doing him? It sounds like you are going to try and do him.

This sounds like the X rated version of aforementioned love story.

I think you just have a gay fetish so you perceive everything that way. It's okay bruh. We won't judge.

It's the off topic board. We're staying true to the boards pure nature.

When I was in third grade, I liked a girl in my class but was too chicken shite to talk to her. One weekend, I went camping with my family at Guntersville State Park which is about two hours from where I lived. I got bored and went to the playground. The only other people there was the girl I liked and her little brother. She was pushing him on the merry go round or whatever you call it. I started pushing too and we starting talking. We ended up "going together" for a couple of weeks.

In my defense the title is "Chance Encounters". Gotta be a gay club named that.

Had 4 this last year. 2 of them were on the same day and 3 of them were on airports.
On our anniversary trip to NYC this year we saw a couple that we knew from college that got married a year after us going to NYC for their anniversary as well at the airport. They live 2000 miles from us. But somehow we ended up on flights together. Was pretty awesome to get to hang out.
Then in San Antonio this last year I was stopping to get booze for our company Christmas party (I don't live in SA) and I ran into a girl I was hot for in HS. She married one of my good friends and I was in their wedding. Haven't seen her for 12 years.
The other two were friends from college I saw at the Houston airport on the same day. That's not quite as random, but was kinda cool.

I grew up in Cleburne, Texas. 20+ years after moving away, the missus and stepdaughter were in a restaurant in Nashville. Stepdaughter was wearing my HS letter jacket, which was recognized by a 2-yrs-older lady who grew up about 1/4 mile from me. I recognized her immediately once she came over to ask about the jacket, but there's no way I would have picked her out of the crowd. I think that qualifies as "chance".

There has to be more to this story, right?

Nah, I was just pooping and thinking about everything that fell into place for us to be standing there at that moment. It kind of blows my mind how things like that happen. And it makes me think what other chance encounters I've missed because things didn't fal into place. Like what if the first restaurant had not had a wait? I wouldn't have gone to the second restaurant to begin with.
Maybe I should get really high and ponder this some more.
