went to haggle with a dealership last week. finally got a printed offer with my price on it so I let them run my credit. after they run it they came back & told me I qualified but they gave me an offer sheet with a different price on it. after I questioned it the guy told me after you signed the credit app we decided we couldnt sell it for that price. pisses me off that they lied to get my signature & then the inquiry affected my credit score. do I have any recourse here?

i would have the printed offer in hand and raise hell vocally around other customers.

Remove the valve stems on every car in the lot.

Let's see....a car dealership lied? I can see it.
Recourse? Buy elsewhere

The inquiry shouldn't affect your credit score in any meaningful way, unless your score was already borderline.
Best thing you can do is raise hell until they call the cops or give you the deal.

yeah the points arent really meaningful its just the principle. doesnt seem legal to be able to do that when it does have an effect like it does.

thats the thing he took the written offer to "go type up the paperwork" and brought back an exact copy with only the sales price modified with the incorrect sales contract and passed it off hoping I wouldnt notice. it was just shady as hell and pissed me off. no way in hell I'd buy anything from the scum.

Yeah, not much recourse other that walking away from the deal and spreading the word to everyone you know how they treated you. Even if they called back offering you the originally agreed upon price, I wouldn't take it simply on principle.

I like this guy if justice fails something along these lines may be in order.

What dealer was it?
This, the best thing you can do is tell everyone you know what they did including online. Be sure to let the manager know this is what you are going to do and follow through. Do not buy from them. You really have no legal recourse.

its BS, and being able to finance you makes them more money.
Id just say that with the new price, I decided I couldnt buy from you.

Car salesmen are usually dudes that peaked in high school with a coke addiction. Honesty and integrity aren't their strong suit. For them it was cop/preacher/sales.

throw pieces of cheese on all the wind shields of the cars in the lot

Or as in Fight Club, pour out bags of bird food on their roof.

If you're gonna do a loan for a vehicle, get with your bank or credit union and then negotiate a drive off price with the dealer.

- don't buy from the dealer
- start growing a beard
- masturbate frequently
- run an online smear campaign that includes erroneous stories involving anal sex, dry ice, and Birkenstock sandals
That's the best advice I can give off the top of my head.
