That's great and very sad at the same time. Sorry for your loss. I love my dogs, they are great companions and I'm really sad when I lose one.

Sorry to hear that. Went through the same thing a few months back when I had to bury my eldest chocolate lab. She was 16.

If people were more like dogs this world would be a LOT better place.

That sucks man. I remember having to put mine down when I was a freshman in college in '12. Got him when I was 4 years old and he was a golden retriever.
You literally can't ask for a better pal throughout your life than a dog. They love you unconditionally and are always there for you. Really sucks to see them go. Best you can do is make them have the happiest years of their life in the short period they're here.

We have to live a long life to learn the loyalty and love that a dog is born with. That's why their lives are shorter than ours.
When I read that sentiment, I understood why we love puppies and adult dogs so much. They are born knowing what true, unconditional love is. We have to learn it. My dogs helped me learn it quicker than any person could have.
So sorry for your loss.

I lost my oldest pup last week too.
He was only 9 and went from healthy and normal on Thursday. Threw up twice on Friday and started acting lethargic. By Sunday he was refusing food and we found blood in his stool.
Our vet met us at the clinic on Sunday and said he needed immediate surgery - thought it was an intestinal blockage or maybe some kind of cancer.
Turns out his intestines had somehow tied themselves in a knot and that was that. His intestine ruptured sometime on Sunday. Our vet said this was only the second time he had seen a case like that in 30 years of practice and that once the intestine twisted that there was no saving him. He died on the operating table. Went from healthy to dead in 3 1/2 days. Even though the vet told me over and over again there was nothing they could do to save him, I still feel tremendously guilty. What if I had taken him Thursday? I should have known something wasn't right. My head knows I couldn't have made a difference but oh my heart still aches with guilt.
I'm still no where near close to being okay with it. I miss him so much.
I'll see you again one day, Murphy. I hope doggie heaven is full of green tennis balls just for you.
I hope our boys are playing together, BoomNation. Maybe they crossed that Rainbow Bridge together.

I'm so sorry that is awful
We have had black labs and most have lived what I would consider full lives (11+). Have had 2 live past 15 and died peacefully on their own without much pain. Strangely, it's one of the most rewarding things I think about. The life we were able to provide for those two awesome dogs for so long. Of course I love every dog we have ever had but those two were very special
However we also had one die fairly suddenly at 9 once and it was terrible. He got down in his hips all of a sudden to where he couldn't walk then stopped eating. Vet didn't know what was going on. I can't even remember the details now but the medicine they had to give him ended up eating up his stomach and he hemmoraged and died at the vet. We never found out what was actually wrong with him.
Much like losing a person that's a family member the only thing that really ever makes it better is thinking of the great times and the passage of time
Also I know it's really tough but nothing speeds up the healing process quite like a new dog, to many it feels like betrayal but you know your old dog would want another dog to receive the same love that he did while under your care

I'm sorry brother, and feel your pain. Our two pits who we rescued at three weeks old when we were freshman in college died 10 months ago at the age of 13. It was the most devistating loss I've ever experienced. I've lost lots of family and friends over the years, but losing our dogs was 10x worse than all of them combined. Just when I thought I had moved on, Christmas comes around and I realize it's our first Christmas without them...
Stay strong, and time does heal. It's hard to imagine it now, but it will eventually get easier.

Sorry for your loss. I got 2 labs in 2003. Buried my chocolate female in Nov '15 and my yellow male a week after my first child was born on Halloween this year. One of the hardest things I've ever had to do. It's gets better though.

That sucks man. I'm sorry for you.
I had two dogs die at the same time from taking Trifexis. That shite shut down there liver and they died horribly. I don't wish that shite on my worst enemy. I cried like a little girl.

That sucks. Wife's family got a dog when she was 12 and he died last year at the age of 16. Lived a hell of a pampered life as a member of the family and my MIL still says she'll never have another dog after him passing.
