Wow. For a supposed sting operation, this is the weakest list of charges I've ever seen. 95% of them will simply get deferred prosecution, go to drug class, and nothing else. No convictions.

This was probably the work of the new president on campus trying to show out.

Bingo. Apparently Bonner has been busting balls lately. Trying to prove herself as it seems.

The lack of felony charges is astounding for that much Police work. They should all be embarrassed and the local citizenry should be furious. What a waste of time and money.

Seriously.

Out of all 74 arrests there is 1 felony (altered firearm charge). And I doubt that dude is a student.

Basically, just wasted your tax dollars to have the new pres. look tough for students.

A bunch of possession arrests.....no trafficking, no distribution charges. Nothing important. Just arrests so the pres. can say "We just arrested 74 people. We cleaning up."

Why is this not on the OT Board?

SEC related?

Also, reading the names, I hate to stereotype but it's a bunch of rich, white frat guys.

I mean Richard Hammer Pennell III?

Next you'll see Thurston Edward Rockefellar III.

I hate to stereotype...just sayin' that there were probably a lot of Lacoste and Costa Del Mars on display in those mugshots.

13A-12-214, personal use is a Class A Misdemeanor.

AND THEN THIS shite

Section 13A-12-213 in the Alabama Code
Unlawful possession of marihuana in the first degree.
(a) A person commits the crime of unlawful possession of marihuana in the first degree if, except as otherwise authorized (lol informants):
(1) He possesses marihuana for other than personal use; or
(2) He possesses marihuana for his personal use only after having been previously convicted of unlawful possession of marihuana in the second degree or unlawful possession of marihuana for his personal use only.
(b) Unlawful possession of marihuana in the first degree is a Class C felony.

I'd be more worried about getting kicked out.. That shite looks terrible on any record.

That's a shite ton of people to put through court. Maybe they'll have a fun drug class or something.

They were bailed out in record speed. The website only shows current inmates.

As are the "sale" charges. Also, possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics is another felony charge. I know a guy who went to Atlanta federal on that charge.

That's right.

But, the sale charges will get easily deferred unless the guy has a big history.

I would expect if they conducted a sting to see more than what they got.

Remember how when Jimmy Johns was arrested and they had recordings of him selling on more than one occasion? On CI-based arrests, they generally have more than one sale recorded. This task force rarely makes those kinds of arrests without plenty of camera/microphone appearances.

Sometimes one government agency does something in a big, public way to make a point to another, uncooperative government agency that thinks it's "too cool for school," so speak...
