Michigan or Pennsylvania? My best friend has to choose between job offers that pay about the same. One is in a Philly suburb the other in a Detroit suburb.

I hope they are both actually in the burbs. I'd hate to be one left turn away from Detroit or Philly projects.

Philly is better but more expensive.

Detroit is a little dirty but much cheaper.

Good luck

Tell him to find a new job or go into a different profession. Those 2 cities are not worth any amount of money. You have a choice of Philly with major racial issues or Detroit where they actually train for the Zombie apocalypse.

Michigan is one of the most beautiful places in the country. Lots of family there and my uncle has a huge cabin out near Bellair. It is amazing.

Detroit sucks though but is getting better

it really depends which suburb, seriously. They both have pluses and minuses that cancel each other out. Philly area you are going to be in the metropolis of the the northeast coridor. Detroit is having a resurgance of sorts and you can buy land/houses pretty damn cheap.

frick both cities, but if this is the two choices, it's Philly every time.

Detroit burbs are nice. I'd go this route.

I would hate to live in either, but I have to go with Philly.

Detroit is 'American Somalia'.

I'd go with Philly suburb. Philadelphia isn't the nicest city (it's a lot like Baltimore), but they have great transportation, close proximity to NYC, pretty good sports teams, and a great fine arts community. PSO is IMO the best American orchestra, if that interests you at all.
