Based on what you've experienced, are ghosts real?

For me the answer's no.

Ghosts? No.
Someone's ideas, thoughts, and actions can permeate throughout the delicate web of history, though, and that is far more impactful than some spooky ectoplasm.

Saw my Gran Dad's Ghost, while he was still alive. Walked right by me one night and was checking the fireplace.
He was crippled at that time and was blinded by diabetes and had both feet amputated.

No. I don't know why there would be ghosts either. When you die, you die.

I was a staunch non-believer and gave people shite that thought they were real. So if you don't believe me, that's fine, I've been there and understand your point of view. But here's my experience:
I was in the basement of a building on campus called "The Dead House" because it served as a morgue for soldiers during the Civil War before they were transported across campus to the cemetery. Anyway, this was finals week my senior year and I was working on a project through the night and this started happening around 3 a.m. I was alone for about an hour by this point.
I was working on my project in the back row of a computer lab when a front row computer screen turned on. It caught my attention but I just figured it was installing a routine update or something. Then the next one turned on, and another, and I was seeing the mice move with some of them. There was no rhythm to the time in-between screens turning on, and even if there was, people had left the room from random computers at random times before I was the only one left. Remind you, at this time I was still a skeptic so I chalked it up to being tired and overworked and carried on.
Then I heard a big crashing sound from the far end of the hallway. It was a long crash, maybe two or three seconds of noise. I figured the janitors were there or another student came back. I walked out to see if everything was ok and didn't see a person. I perused the entire building and didn't see anyone. I again chalked this up to just being tired and so I went back to my computer and worked some more on my project.
I start getting this feeling that I'm being watched, but I don't know by who so I start to get concerned. Then I turned around quickly after feeling someone brush up against the back of my chair. No one is there. At this point, I'm getting worried and so I call my girlfriend and tell her everything that is going on.
I tell her that I think someone is pranking me, trying to get me or that there might even be a ghost in there. As I am saying all this I start losing my ability breathe and feel like someone is choking me. It wasn't a mild choke, it was a legitimate thinking someone was murdering me choking feeling. I drop my phone without hanging up, stand up quickly and the feeling goes away.
I grab my things in a hurry and rush to the bathroom. My neck and shoulder were red and purple with four little indents on either side like they were from fingers. I literally sprinted out of the building and didn't stop running until I got in my car.
Unable to sleep, I sit in my room at my house with all the lights on and the TV on before heading back to the building once I knew faculty and such were back.
TL;DR Ghosts are real, BTTWW almost shite his pants in fear like a bitch.

I don't know if I believe in "ghosts", but the paranormal? Absolutely.

Aren't those the same thing? What's the difference?

I don't know, I've felt other presences before and seen some shite I can't explain, but I don't know if they were ghosts.

'Ghosts' as they're portrayed in society are the spiritual/paranormal remains of a person.
'Paranormal' is far more generic and doesn't imply that human link at all. I've got no idea what pvilleguru means or believes but using the term defined as I just did, I completely agree.
In fact, any Christian should most certainly feel the same way. The Bible (both old and new testament) regularly discusses the existence of demons and angels and their ability to interact with and influence the actions of people.

I definitely do. I had a brother that died when he was two because of a birth defect in his heart. My granddad on my mom's side took it extremely hard. Didn't sleep for days on end wasn't eating and was starting to get sick because of his grief and worry. One evening as he was not sleeping and tossing and turning my brother came to him and told him "PawPaw, it's alright. I will see you when you get here." Grandad said that there was such a feeling of peace and calm and that everything in the room was lit up and no shadows were to be seen anywhere. Form that point on he did not worry and he was good.
Now if you call that a ghost or an angelic visitation that is your call but I believe that ghosts/spirits/angels/demons are real.

Yeah, they're everywhere. Contact with the living spooks them though, so they don't go out of their way to make contact.

I am not saying this is not true, but probably spent more time in that building than most and never had that experience.
I assume you are talking about Farley Hall. I worked on the yearbook for 3 years there and spent many of long nights in Farley. Most of those in the darkroom by myself and a few times way up in the Attic trying to dig through old yearbooks. I am glad that never happened to me.
The scariest building when I was there was Lester Hall. I have no idea what it is used for now, but when I was there it was not in use and had not been for decades possibly. The university used it for storage and it was something out of an old insane asylum from a movie. No power or HVAC, paint peeling off walls, ancient university junk blocking the hallways (beds, desks, etc.). There was a one window room they had yearbooks stored in dating back to the early 1900s. They gave me a flashlight and a list of years to find.
I am not saying ghosts are real, but I never felt I was alone in there.

No. Paranormal and supernatural are words that describe humanity's refusal to accept that there is only the normal and natural in our boring everyday lives.

I took a lot of classes in Farley, too, we probably know each other. I've heard some people say that the French journalist from the Meredith riots haunts the building. I never had another experience there. Hope I never do again when i go back.

I would love to accept a normal or natural explanation for what I've seen/heard, but I've yet to find one.
