What's the backstory on this? Is the state attempting some funny business or something?

Way I understand it is it just keeps BOT terms from ending at the same time.

I left it blank.

That's what it sounds like on the surface. I do wonder if the trustee ("state appointee") age limit amendment was on the same ballot by design. I voted against removing age limits because this state needs to get younger in regards to leadership roles, even in roles such as this.

I'm pretty sure multiple board members' terms are set to expire at the same time in the near future

Unintended consequence of a prior constitutional amendment.

If the terms are allowed to expire at the same time now, Jimmy Rane (by virtue of seniority) will be allowed to continue and will get extra years on the board, which isn't in anyone's best interests. The guy is attached at the hip to Mike Hubbard, who's serving 4 years in prison.

This is the same guy that personally called Houston Nutt to ask him to come to Auburn. That cost Auburn millions in Tuberville's buyout. Auburn is better off not having him in an "official" position.

If the bill was split between the term expiration dates and adding 2 additional seats for " "diversity" ", then I would have voted yes on terms and no on additional seats. I voted no with both joined.

The age limit amendment was in there in conjunction with this one. I voted yes to remove age limits.

I am glad that the state can't take money from the parks and then close the parks because the park system doesn't have any money. It was bullshite that the state took 15 million of park earned money and wasted it.
