Does your son want to join a fraternity? The costs of that might offset some of the difference between UGA and UA because Alabama fraternities can be very expensive.
Don't know, but I will encourage him to go through rush
That will be up to him

Fraternity prices at all 3 universities will be about the same. Unless he goes DKE at Bama, which I've heard has ridiculous dues

He has pretty much decided he want to go to Auburn
He asked us to go ahead and send the deposit for a dorm room
Lots of his buddies plus his girlfriend are already committed to AU
His Bama acceptance letter came yesterday
mama will like that he will be so close...

No
My sister works at Pinecredt in Ft Lauderdale; one of the top preparatory schools in the country
They have kids that pull as high as 4.6
Extra assignments for grade enhancement is common everywhere now

Not so subtle brag, he has a 4.2 GPA and a 32

He will probably be the world's smartest personal trainer.

At UA there is no formal rush. Basically he'll just have to ask the recruitment chairs to hang out. If he wants to get in one of the best ones, he needs to start contacting them now. If he waits till summer, it'll be very hard to get into a good one unless he already knows guys in it.

He's obviously a smart kid. Aren't those grades/scores good enough for a vandy or a unc?

That seems silly, glad Arkansas wasn't that way.

yes
but dat money doh
plus, he wants to go to a big state school - I told him he should look at Florida & Clemson, but he had no interest...

Does OP mean a physical therapist? Do you have to go to school to be a personal trainer? I thought you just had to be ripped and tell people how to get as ripped as you.

The risk management program at UGA is top notch, and could land him a 75k gig straight out of college with being well into 6 figures within 5 years.
if that's something he'd consider, tell him to look into becoming a commercial property broker at a large firm. I have former colleagues under 30 making probably 120-150k doing that. Huge shortage.

well, damn. I actually did that for about a year, but he will always struggle financially.

Congrats on your son's hard work & achievement -- money in the bank!
My son had the exact same scores in 2001. Was accepted to Auburn honors college, but not much scholarship money was available then (I understand it is better now). I was disappointed, but Vandy came through with a full ride for him -- cant complain about that. I even went to some Vandy football games (now, that you can complain about).
I say go wherever you get the best deal, unless he has his heart set on a certain place.

Free for an average school is a better deal than 6 figures for a good one. Too many of my friends picked expensive schools and now can't find a good job to pay off the debt.
