You only drug test those who voluntarily check a box saying they've done drugs? Who the hell came up with that rule?

Might as well put: "Check this box if you're applying for free money but don't want free money"

And if you're going to do that, why even drug test them? Why not just ask if they're still doing drugs?

It's not worth it. We've had it for a few years now in FL and it's a waste of money.

It's been done in a handful of states already, and didn't save money nor did it catch many drug users. It actually ended up costing money to run the program.

Has anyone said that in this thread? I would never say that all welfare recipients are scumbags. I have no issue with helping those who truly need help, but surely you don't think there isn't any fraud.

Make the legislators take one too. They are receiving taxpayer money.

We HAD it for a few years... repeatedly found to be unconstitutional, on top of a net loss of money.

Did I say that?

You're in this thread advocating for the drug testing of all welfare recipients. It has been proven to be ineffective. What is your rationale behind wasting money on it?

How does drug testing welfare recipients stop welfare fraud and abuse?

The only ones coming out on top in the welfare drug testing game where the testing companies; which in Florida btw, happened to be owned and operated by governor Rick Scotts' wife...

I'd sincerely like to see our government pay people to get sterilized. We could wipe out poverty in one generation.

Why not just kill all the poor people? This would meet your goal immediately.

The biggest issue in welfare is fraud. And the lack of enforcement we have on a local level to deal with it. There's a decent amount of people out there abusing the system. I'm all for going back to government stores. I'd much rather see money put into those things versus mandatory drug testing of recipients.

Will hurt children of drug addicted parents. They will still spend their money on drugs so without food stamps the children won't be nourished as well. This does include food assistance right?
