I could go with the PC answer and say "HELL YES!!" but honestly idk. I'm not ashamed of being American for certain and wouldn't want to live anywhere else but do I feel proud?

Why would I be proud of something that I can't help? That's like being proud to be white or female or brown eyed or heterosexual.

Damn proud.

People can say "I didn't choose to be an American" but we do choose to continue to live there, retain our citizenship and make that society work and while people like to nitpick at it we're doing a damn good job in my opinion.

Do we have domestic problems? Sure, but compared to other countries we're extremely open about them and trying to fix them.

Do we maybe engage in some questionable foreign policy moves? Yes, but I'd say, given the scale of our power we've been remarkably restrained in our actions compared to other countries in similar circumstances throughout history. Most of what we do is motivated by a desire, even if that desire is eventually perverted or misguided, to make the world a better, safer, more free place.

We are and will remain the country against which all others compare themselves and desire to be and we all worked and are working hard to build that.

It's easy to be a critic these days but we need to keep things in perspective. America is a great nation and we made it that way. This shite didn't just happen.

I had no control over where I was born but I'm damn proud it was in the great state of Texas.

Thankful not proud. Pride is not a particularly positive attribute. In fact it has been the downfall of many.

I'm happy, thankful, etc. But like CatFan says, it doesn't really make logical sense to be proud of something over which you had no control.

I'm not proud that 85% of people have zero clue what it even means to be American.

Most people think this is the beacon of 'good' in the world. Little do people consider the democratically elected governments we've overthrown, or the natural resources we've stripped from around the world for our own profit, ect ect ect.

Small example of how in-the-dark most people are -- I can guarantee the majority have no idea we force other countries to sell their oil in dollars, which makes our way of life possible.

Hell, most Americans think The Fed is a part of the US government.

I'm proud of Daniel Boone, whiskey, Woody Guthrie, log cabins, and WWII soldiers who acted brave unbeknown to the truth.

But I'm not proud of what most people think of as 'American'.

Suck it to any that don't like -- I'm confident that you probably don't understand.

Leg humper.

If you had a 9 inch cock, which you were born with, you wouldn't be proud of it?

People have no control over being from a certain state or region, but it's good to be proud of where you're from -- it's what keeps culture in tact or at least attempts to in the face of homogenization.

Cat has a cold soul. She'd be fine with the world being one big airport terminal -- which is what would happen if people turned their back on culture and didn't show pride in their roots.
