I am. I stepped on a ray last time I was in Florida. I don't like jellyfish and of course sharks. Fishing is vital but other than that I think we should stay out of there.

Naw, grew up on the coast. However, I am a bit more cautious than most. I never go where it isn't easy to touch bottom. You won't find me swimming out to find the last touchable sandbar. Jellyfish blow but its not a deal breaker.

Respect.

When I was younger, I used to swim out to that last sandbar.

Now I know how many sharks I swam past...

I'm not afraid of the beach and wading into the water. I'm terrified of the Pacific Ocean and all the s*** that lives in there.

Yes. When I was young, it didn't bother me at all. Now it freaks me out.

I don't really float in water too well. I'm afraid of the deep end of a swimming pool. What do you think I think of the friggin ocean?

And yes I can swim, just not well because of the whole can't-float-well thing.

What threatening creature lives in the Pacific that doesn't live in the gulf?

We've got Orcas

We've got Great White sharks

We've got Portugese Man 'O War

I understand there is stuff out there that:

1 - Will hurt me if I step on it.
2 - Will hurt me if I touch it.
3 - Will hurt me if it touches me.
4 - Will hurt me if I invade it's space.
5 - Will take a big bite out of me and then spit it out, thinking, "That wasn't what I thought it was..."
6 - Sees me as the next meal.
7 - Sees me as a snack.
8 - Has big sharp teeth.

What did the Black "Stay out of the ocean lady" say?

"The ocean is the shark's dinner plate."

I see the sharks swimming up and down the beach saying, "Excellent buffet today...So many choices...Where do I start?"

Many - Many shark attacks occur in knee deep water. All of them occur when the person and shark are in the water at the same time.

Now they have Shark-a-nadoes, where the dang things fall out of thunder storm clouds and eat you as you walk out of the mall in Topeka, KS.

No. I spent 25 years in the beach cities of L.A., where the biggest problem is shootings and stabbings. I used to swim a mile or so from shore to snag beers from people on boats, hooked up with a beautiful chick one afternoon.

I'm not afraid of the ocean but I'm afraid for the ocean. I'm afraid that pollution of the ocean is killing off some species before we even discover them, much like our treatment of tropical forests.
