Are bannings actually based on traffic generation?

I've wondered this almost as long as I've been at this site and noticed the "consistent inconsistency" in who/what gets banned. Perhaps they have an algorithm implemented that analyses patterns of traffic, post feedback, etc versus user posting metadata. Perhaps Google does it for them. Is it just in the code and the numbers, and just about economics?

Post some pics of chicks with dicks and we will test this statement.

You'd do well to edit this post, or you might have a passive aggressive cuss-laden PM in your near future. Admins don't take kindly to posters questioning their ways.

Unbannable.... hmmm.

Make a post about Les's wife. Post Pron, Anything about Katrina, racist stuff. Anything really trolling on the OTL...all of which will get you banned.

Several of those I have the scars from. No pron from me. Yet anyway.

Your future ban status corresponds directly to the number of Louisianans you can offend with a single post.

Never been banned.

No one ever took my trolls seriously. Probably because they're usually bad

I ruffled the feathers of a single Louisianan on tLounge in the Baltimore riots thread--StrongSafety--and I was the one that got the banhammer.

The things he was spewing about and to me were absolutely deplorable...insinuating that I was a product of incest was actually the nicest thing he said to/about me. That's how brutal it was. I just avoid him now no matter how inflammatory his posts are.

No, I think you can offend Louisianans all you want as long as it consistently generates feedback. Once it becomes stale or you cross a line, you get banned. You don't have to play it safe, you have to deftly dance around in the sweet spot on the spectrum of provocavity. Be proactively, originally, positively offensive.

Yeah, me too. I'm terrible at trolling. I sound like a six-year-old saying, "Yeah, well you're a poopy-head."

Look at the really offbeat posters that are widely disliked - Kafka, Owlie, Killz, etc. They are provocative, but they grow old quickly. (I like them all, by the way). They are constantly banned over minor stupid shite. This is a strategy to keep them fresh and maximize traffic pertaining to them. Their bannings aren't personal.

Maybe you have a point. Maybe you're just over analyzing this and seeing things that aren't there. I tend to believe admins just ban and release people they like to frick with. Maybe that's not giving them enough credit.

Wow was that written poorly the first time.

Disagree. But I'm not saying more about it. Because the last time I discussed it I was banned for discussing the time I was banned.

They are. You aren't hateful enough, I'm sorry man. It's why everyone likes you: you aren't the stereotypical angry black man. You're kind of the Aggie Steve Urkle. And who gets mad when Urkle tries to troll? Only Carl Winslow, that's who.
