Do you have to split every gear??? What about down shifting???

Shouldn't it be a hi-lo split for the first 4 gears and reverse? I always learned to downshift by double clutching...although I'm sure you're more well versed than I am, that was a really long time ago when I learned and I've never used it since.

Nah man it's 9 in low grab the switch and 9 in high just like a 10 speed

Depends on which 18 it is. The one truck I have is a 18 double o and has a deep reduction that will split the 1st 5. It's pretty much the same as a 15 speed if you've ever driven one of those.

My favorite is my 85 Pete with a 5 and 4 though

Oh yeah they down shift just like what you are used to. A little seat time and you'll figure out where it likes to be rpm wise and it's like butter

Usually the deep reduction is different. The only real difference is the double o has the big hole up next to the dash and the regular 18 it's not if you can drive a 10 spd or a super 10 or a 15 sp you will be fine.

It's a 15 plus 3 you split em all 1 lo 1 hi 2lo 2hi etc then change range and do same 5 lo 5 hi 6 lo 6 hi etc
