Not as good as Big Green Egg, but better than your normal smoker.

I researched BGE, Kamado Joe and Primo last fall when i was having my patio redone. If you are considering a Kamado Joe, you should at least take a look at the Primo Grills. That is the one I went with - Primo Oval XL. Not sure what size you need but I wanted to be sure that I always had plenty of room but the Primo has an extra Firebox divider that I can use when I'm cooking for just me and my wife. I think all 3 of them are going to be pretty similar and cook some really good food. From experience, the Primo is a fantastic ceramic cooker...big and the oval shape on mine gave me more grilling area than the BGE at a similar cost. I liked the different Primo accessories and of course, the ability to divide the firebox. It's easy to light and it holds temps like a champ too. I smoked a beef brisket for the 4th and have done everything from smoked chicken and ribs to pizza and high-heat seared steaks (700+ degrees). I even baked a sweet potato casserole on it last Thanksgiving. It works for anything. Made in America too!

Buddy of mine has one. Everything I've had off of it has been just as good as what I've had off a Big Green Egg.

Got a Primo for Fathers Day. Didn't think I would use it as much as the Weber grill. Needless to say I haven't touched the Weber since I got the Primo which I have used 11 times since then. Every single thing I have cooked has been unbelievably good: Smoked chicken (and smoked chicken salad using the smoked chicken), marinated pork chops, flank steak, brisket... Love my primo.
