Sounds like you are describing the primary symptom of depression.

I'll honestly just sit in my apt Friday/Saturday and play video games. I'll turn my phone off till Sunday. My thought process is if someone wants me that bad they know where I live

Not normally. I'm usually a pretty upbeat energetic guy.

I had a pretty crappy December with house remodeling, sick kids, grandparents getting moved to nursing homes, more work than I got paid for, and car problems.

January has just wore me down. Work has kept my rear in a chair from 7:30- 5:30 everyday and hasn't really taken off like I'd liked for it to have. To boot, It's only been above 50 degrees for about 12 hours this year and I haven't seen the sun since before Christmas, so the gloom is just wearing on me.

So if anything, I comiserate with you. But hey, it's just a season. Life will pick up. It'll kick us in the junk again, but life's too beautiful and short to let things keep us down.

Absolutely. The winter blues are a real thing.

You doing alright?

I've seen you post about getting hammered quite a bit recently and now a post that screams depression. I get this way some in the winter. My father does too, so thanks genetics. Still, you've been a bit out of character lately. Want to be sure everything is good.

That's a terrible feeling. It's the seasonality of life. Hang in there, surround yourself with friends and family. Take a trip.

I know none of that is probably helpful if you're actually going through some shite. Do you have someone to talk to IRL?

Yes. Young girls do get wooly.

In all seriousness, this time of year fricks with me too. And it can get really overwhelming. I'm currently considering transferring schools (for work) because shite has just gotten absolutely ridiculous. Love the kids I work with, but the adults are fricking awful right now.

Dude, I know exactly what you mean. Perhaps it's a function of age, I think we are pretty close on age. Also, this time of year wears me out.

frick yes. There's gonna come time where you don't want to go to the grocery store anymore or fill up the car or take out the trash or read a newspaper or take a vacation or change jobs or keep the one you have or meet another chick or get drunk or go to a movie or go out to a restaurant or buy or sell your home or walk your dog or hang out with friends or stay up late or sleep late or visit a doctor or a dentist or buy some new shoes or bowl or play golf or buy a lotto ticket or go to church or night school or fall in or out of love or … well you get it.

As The Wizard said to Travis: Basically, we're all fricked in the end.

This. And I consider myself a people person.

However, I don't consider dumb/annoying individuals to be "people," and the pool of acceptable folks seems to narrow for me every year...

Man it's just that time of year. It's been happening to me for a few years now. Always goes away when it starts to warm up.

Yeah, I went through a "I love everybody" and "everybody has good in their heart" phase.

That's over. It is my experience that people, in general, are best avoided.
