Most of that is over my head , but very cool to see the migration charts . It looks like quite a bit of English/Scottish/Irish ancestry?

We got my mother a 23 & Me for Mother's Day.

I think we are quite suspect of the ancestral links. We know my grandmother's side is mostly Greek/Spanish/Italian/Austrian. It came back saying that she was French/German/British.

On the other hand, I think she was pleased with the health evaluation connected with it. It did spot some traits she has (it said she was very likely to experience blood clots which she does) and a couple of other things

Mine was mostly British/Irish. It's funny they group those together, because I guarantee the Irish and British do not see themselves as the same. However, I suppose they are genetically indistinguishable. The only surprise was the 10% Scandinavian. Like many, I've always heard we had Native American ancestry, but none showed up. I'm personally glad. No written language, stone tools, and being very creative with torture are not what I would consider an accomplished people.

Years ago I heard that one of those genealogy websites (ie ancestry.com) that you fill out your name, etc was run by the Mormon Church, and they had the largest database of ancestry. Since then I said "nope" to anything like it, and giving my dna for who knows who to have is not happening. Ha.

Via false name maybe, but still dont care or need to really know.

Been wanting to do one, but always get stuck deciding on which company. Anyone have a good reason for which one?

Seems some allow you up to import/export from one database to another for searching other databases, and others do not which I understand just fine. But beyond this are there better ones for certain nationalities or better methods. They get pretty over your head not having played with this type data. It all seems Greek to me and maybe I should have an affinity... heaven knows what someone might be?

Maybe I'm paranoid but everytime I donate blood I think of a sample being sent for dna testing to sell. Organizations sell everything about you nowadays. Bastages.
